Looks clean when not in use, but it looks like it hangs FAR off the back of the car when the rack is in use. It looks like it hangs out about 1/3 the length of the entire car.

The problem is that the rack I have needs an adapter to fit into a 1 1/4" trailer. I put the bikes on and took a quick drive. It looks weird but everything feels fine. I'm excited to actually take it on some trips to do some mountain biking.

My bike folds up and fits inside. The rack looks good and functional.

ehhhhh costs more than a hitch adn rack, and dramatically lowers gas mileage.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I went with the towfor several reasons, cost being the biggest point. A roof rack + two bike mounts will cost near 500. The trailer + adapter + bike rack cost under 300. plus, I do alot of mountain biking so putting a dirty bike on the roof runs risks of paint chips and scratches. Also, It's so much easier to stap a bike to a rear rack than a roof rack IMO.

looks good, but out of curiousity, what's the weight rating on your hitch? i've got a miata with a hitch, but mine is bolted more to the frame rails it looks like? just wondering. i use mine for my racing trailer.

It will definitely keep people from hitting the back of your car in parking lots. I saw one of those break off the back of a suv a few years ago.(On the hwy) I think it was a combination of it being overloaded and it sticking too far out. I'm not too familiar with how they work but does yours fold down so you can open your hatch? Because I think that is how the one I saw failed. It swung down hit the ground then went to hell. It was probably installed in a receiver hitch too. Most suvs have them. Just keep an eye on it. It would be a bummer if that thing failed on you.
Glee! Im building a custom RC check it out.
