car pulls right? few things I've checked but not sure« » Reply  Edit

so my car pulls right after I got an alignment. pulls right hard when I gas, and pulls right gently but still fast when i'm off the gas. I notice a tiny bit of vibration in the steering wheel.

Here's what I'm thinking maybe you guys can tell me where it is or what i've missed.

alignment is fine - checked the numbers after it got aligned and it looks good.
compliance bushing is fine (83k miles, looks good still)
Engine mounts not sure if busted (changed before around 50k, MAYBE, I don't even accelerate hard)
Shop says it could be my Tein Basic Coilovers. Idk about that one.

i'm not sure what it could be. o_O

Are your tires properly balanced? Could it be possible they messed up on the alignment?
I dunno, when I left a few of my lugs loose it would vibrate when off the accelerator, and stop when I was on it.

hey wuz up! well i have the same problem with my car when i got the car alignment they told me that i need it to take it to a MACHINE SHOP so that they can pull the suspension. the front arms because they were not propely aligned. and i was off by 1/2 inch. and this happens when you hit a dip.

have you thought about brakes for the vibrations and bad tire pressures/poorly balanced tires for the pulling?

just a thought lol

well usually the car will pull to the right because thats how the roads are, they kind of slant to the right.. but nsrkeeper may have your answer

Your car pulls to the right just like anyone elses. From what i've heard our whp and tq isnt distibuted at the same time to both wheels. It goes from the left wheel to the right. Consider getting an LSD (limited slip differential). and if im wrong or misleading im pretty sure someone will correct me

d17alltheway is right, the power isnt equally distributed because one axle is longer than the other. thats why k20 have an intermediate shaft so that both axles can be roughly the same length. however, the d17 doesnt output enough power to make the car pull. I think they screwed you on the alignment. check the tire pressure. Im an alignment technician, and just because the paper says your alignment is good, doesnt mean it really is. it's not going to be caused by your coilovers unless they're really out of wack. but check the axles for play. otherwise, take it back and tell them that the car is pulling.

I kept that in mind so I'd find a road that is slanted minimumly to my judgement. i'm pretty good at judging.

I'm actually thinking of getting these checked this weekend or something.

i agree with you on that but mine pulls HARD. there's a difference between a pull and steer to the right when u hit the gas.

i'll check the tire pressure along with the tire balancing. I know they used to get my alignment good when i JUST purchased a lifetime wheel alignment with them. after awhile i started getting poorer wheel alignments.

I even called them and said the car is pulling and they blamed it on my coilovers, or my engine mounts. they even asked what's the rattle in ur suspension. i was like that's my teins it's normal. so they're obviously trying to divert something i guess...

if it really pulls that bad when you accelerate, make sure you dont have a sticking caliper.. jack up the front end and make sure both wheels spin the same without binding. any new noises you havent heard before?

no new nosies. sounds the same. i'll try spining the wheels. i notice when breaking it sticks straight.

pushing the gas peddle is like veering hard right.

so this weekend this is what i did.

now after doing the tire pressure and rotation. it veers left a little bit when pushing the pedal and no more vibrations at 65 mp/h. and it pulls right a tiny bit when off the gas.

don't know if anyone else is looking at this but i'll post the pictures later once I can do that but here's what happened.

big o tires basically screwed me on the alignment. crazybluecivic hooked it up swt! checked out the alignment and my left front toe was about 23 degrees off. that's just one of them.
