for a 92-95 chassis honda civic, with a k series swap. *sorry for being a little generic, but i don't think my set-up matters in terms of which system to buy, if it is i apologize*
Hondata:
Pros:
-allows tuning/ management of engine
-wide user base
-utilizes stock ecu, for plug and play operation (somewhat rsx ecu need be obtained)
-some-what user freindly k-manager programn included
-wide-array of tuners experiencied with this system, due to wide base of "kids" using it.
cons:
-political reasons
-not all tuners want to tune with it.
-VERY expensive w/ rsx-s ecu and hondata costs may exceed or meet that of cheaper standalones
-oldest componets in ecu are 5 years old, newest componets are new with included hondata unit but used components are utilized possibly comprimising reliablty
-low-re sale value
AEM EMS:
pros:
-plug and play
-true standalone, not a daughter board system like hondata
-All new components
-somewhat harder to use programn
-upgrades compatible with most older units, allowing you to buy used
-price! costs only 300 more than hondata's unit!
cons:
-not every tuner can tune a standalone
-might be a little much
-excessive features. anti-lag, no-lift shift, nitrous controls, will most likely not be utilized, launch controls
