Just got a Fit - AWESOME! but....« » Reply  Edit

Hi there, honda-tech.com! I am new here and I come with a specific question to you, hoping for help!

...so my wife and me got this cute Fit Base 2008. I added already floormats and remote keyless entry. But for the total convenience package there is still something missing: MP3 support.
I found 2 possiblities: AUX jack (bad for audiophile ears) or some MP3 car player (like xcarlink, which I found on eBay, but doesn't look trustworthy), which can be connected to the OEM radio.
So maybe some of you could point out some alternatives to the mentioned above to get MP3 running without getting a new radio. Best would be something with SD-Card slot...

Thanks alot!

Agreed, but before I do that one, I'd love to know if there is something better...with USB or SD-slot ...

The aux jack on the sport sounds fine.

The only other option I know of would be to get a decent HU installed with an aux jack or ipod support.

Actually I would love to limit the amount of connectors in between the radio and the player/s. The problem with the Sport-trim jack is, that there will be another cable needed to connected the jack to the player. And the sound will never be as good as a direct connection using the CD-changer input on the radio, for example...
But OK, until nothing better pops up, I will use the stereo jack. I found a pretty decent solution here:

Not sure if money was a big concern but it sounds like you should have just bought the Sport model. Keyless entry and aux jack included.

Hi nicokpe! Thanks for the welcome!

07ssmfit916, thank you, but musiclink is not precisely what I am looking for, as it is just limited to iPods...and it is said not to be compatible with 2008 base model...?!?!

eL, you might be right. But money was not the issue, just the question if we need something like fancy wheels or fog lights (in So-California???) or a spoiler....definitely not! And I like my DIY-approach. Adding keyless entry was simple and cost me in total about $100...

The main point is, that AUX does not give me the sound quality I want and musiclink is too limited. xCarlink provides USB, AUX and SD-Card, but I am still not sure if it really works...

you should get your own topic instead of hijacking this one...

i use an FM transmitter in my 91 Civic Si. definately not the best option, but it works good enough for me. my wifes' sport aux jack sounds a lot better. it's just like the fit IS the head phones! hahahaa. just too big to fit in your pocket.. just barely.
