Alright I tried to take as many pics as possible, so hopefully this will explain clearly how to retro-fit TSX
Projectors into an OEM style civic housing.

First go get one of these clear lenses OEM STYLE housing. Which will give you the best possible output from your projectors.

Pre-heat the oven at 350 and turned it off and put the lights in the oven for about 10 mins. You can also use a heat gun around the edges if that’s not enough.
Then get a flat head screwdriver and pry out the glass out a little.

Then take a sharp knife and cut the glue while you are prying it. I find this method very fast and easy, took me only 10 mins for both headlights.

Then you’ll have this

To take the reflector part out, just unscrew the adjustment screws.

Get a marker and put a line in the centre where the h4 hole was.

Then get a dermal and cut the back of the reflector out for your new projectors from this

To this

Get 4 L mounting brackets from home depot and cut them like this so it can fit onto the projectors

Mount it up to the TSX projectors and place it into the reflector housing.
Make sure it lines up wit the centre marking you did with the marker earlier.

After that just mark the holes where you need to drill and mount it up.
Chances are the horizontal aiming will need to be adjusted. So in order to do that,
You need to put it on the car and see if it’s straight.
If you need to adjust it just throw on some washers under one of the L brackets between the L bracket and reflector.
That way it raises it up or down.
I think this takes the longest, as you will have to take the reflector piece on and off.

After that’s done you will need to make a shroud for it. You can use anything to your imagination, or buy some E46 shrouds but they are expensive.
So here’s mine I made
Chrome ring from a travel mug (you can buy this at Wal-Mart)
3” PVC pipe (Home Depot)
Garden light plastic top. (Canadian tire)
And this bendable metal bracket from the plumbing section


I just drilled the wholes on the PVC pipe
And put a bolt there for the bendable bracket to mount onto the tsx projector.
Put the bracket on the inside.
Sorry didn’t take any pics. Got to use your imagination.

After the horizontal is straight, you can now seal up the headlight.
I sealed it up by using the heat gun around the old glue to make it soft again.
And put a nice bead of silicone around it. That should be good enough.
Then you get something like this,






This one is on a little incline

Pretty good DIY. Your cut-off lines look good, I can't deny. What brand ballast and bulb did you use? because I just sourced some BMW HID projectors for a retro-fit and will be doing the same thing. Good write-up

Great retro, and a nice shroud, looks really clean! Hopefully showing the right way to do it and making seem less difficult will keep less ricer PNP's out of housings.

I don't want to thread jack but I have the same style headlights that I was going to use for a retro, but I am not going to get an EG so they're of no use to me. Hopefully someone going this route can use them. $90 plus shipping, BNIB.

Great write up. This is probably a dumb question but does the 8mm adjuster still work on aligning the headlights?

Thanks everyone. I hope this encourages everyone out there to do a retro instead of plug and play kits that blind everyone.

The 8mm screws on the back are all functional and adjust like stock.
Because you mounted the projector onto the reflector peice that moves as a whole.

The break down on the price will be in canadian dollars.
Tsx projector - $60( usually around $100-$150 but i got a good deal)
Headlight housing with corners- $110
build materials approx. $50
OEM philips bulbs and ballast -$389.99us + shipping from HID planet

about 3 weeks on and off labour for me.
So around $609.99

I've seen that harness before, but I can't figure out how it would connect to the stock civic harness and hid ballast. Can you take some pics of your harness connection?

Well i'm in canada so i don't think i will get an inspection unless i sell the car, which i can't anyways cause i can't pass emmissions.
I got a conditional pass thats good for 2 years and can't sell the car unless it passes.

I don't plan to have the car for more then 2 years. it's almost on it's last legs lol.

tsx projectors are single-xenon (only low beam)

the h4 halogen bulb it replaces has both high and low in one... so now, he only has low beams (so it appears)

Yes it's only single beam for the tsx headlights,
but if you want high and low beam, you'd need a bi xenon projector like the TL.

I think someone on here does this on the side where you just send him the headlights and he'll do it for you but not sure about price.
Very well worth it i'm sure. I think his screen name is prelude somthing?
