| I have a JDM B18C from the 96 type r and it has the stock cast iron header that currently looks like crap with all the rust. I have a friend who has the newer 4-1 JDM type r header for sale and i'm wondering if there would be any hp gains with the change? They are both 2.5 inch exits. The only difference in tubing is that it's 4-2-1 on the 96 and 4-1 on the newer type r. Not to mention that having it all rusted on the outside is a sight for sore eyes.. but main question, any hp gains? Thanks! (ps: i've tried looking.. ) |
I don't recall ever seeing a dyno comparison between the JDM 4-2-1 and JDM 4-1. I suspect if Honda went with the 4-1 for the newer engines it was done for a positive reason. The ITR JDM 4-1 is a good piece for the money, plus it fits perfectly and has very good ground clearance compared to say the DC JDM 4-1 or any of the eBay knock offs. If you purchase it, be sure to check the inside of the ports and if needed, grind down the extra weld beed. I used to remove the anti reversion chamber tube in the outlet to open it up a bit.
BTW, your use of " a sight for sore eyes" is wrong, it's usually used when you are glad to see someone.
