piston recommendations for my b18c1 block, itr head« » Reply  Edit

Hey guys,

I've been out of the racing scene for a very long time and recently picked up a DB1. I've got a stock ITR head sitting around and a complete obd1 gsr that needs to be rebuilt.

I've also got a set of ITB's sitting around. My thoughts were originally just to go with some ctr pistons, however afte reading most of the forums it seems its not something everyone recommends.

What are your guys recommendations as to a set up i should run that is both cost effective. I would like to stay with pump gas of course. Nothing is concrete yet, so please give my your suggestions

So far theses are may plans:
gsr block decked, balanced blue printed
knife edge cranks
ctr piston pistons

c5 head
skunk2 pro 1 cams
twn itbs

s300

What kind of numbers should i be looking for with this set up if anyone knows? I would like to stay below the 11.5 compression.

Hope to hear from some of you. Thanks in advance for your response. If your wondering, yes i've done some research however parts arent what they were 10 years ago and good info is very limited these days.

i would go with jdm itr pistons(p73) instead of ctr's for your c/r preference. ctr's would bump you over 12(not exactly sure the exact #) from what ive heard. not to mention the p2v clearance issues.

what set up do you run with? and also if i am correct with the p73 in my set up it would be about 11.1 comp. what type of clarence issues will i have problems with? and do you know if anyone who went with this the p73 pistons? How was is?

I run rs machine p73s. I would say they work pretty well.

Here's my dyno sheet/engine spec at the bottom of the page.

If you're mating a itr head on a gsr block with itr pistons then you essentially have a itr engine. Use this to calculate what pistons you should use to achieve the CR you want

I've done some searching on here and many sites. Have even gone as far as talking to the guys from King Motorsports and some local shops up here.

Good information is limited... Would like to see what numbers and people are putting up with oem pistons.

again thanks for the info all of you!

with JDM ITR pistons and a ITR head your looking at 11.3-11.45 comp ratio.
are you cutting the head what headgasket you using

I have the same setup but i have the c1 head with ITR pistons I did the math and I have 11.49-11.59 clears and runs great on 91

what kinds of numbers have you been able to pull off with this set up?
