Is this a joke?

Everyone knows 87 is one of the best years for gas!

since you are not obviously smart enough to read the owners manual or the inside of the gas cap filler door where it states "premium fuel only", I suggest that you sell your TL and get a civic.

ALL Acura car require 91 or higher octane

I can understand the Integra taking 87, however I dont see any twin cam VTEC running well with 87.

RSX-S needed premium (91+), Base RSX can run with regular(87).

Why does the Si need premium?

I have an 02 type s and all i put in it is 93. I found 91 at certain stations and sometimes i use that. Its recommended...use it...they told you that for a reason...would you rather use 87 on a car that supposed to run 91 or higher and risk doing damage to save .09 a gallon? Thats how i see. Around my area 93 is at 3.99/gallon, 91 is 3.97, 89 is 3.93, and 87 is 3.91. What are you saving .80 on 10 gallons? I have that stuck in my couch. We need gas.. its part of our lives..gas could be 10.00 a gallon...guess what...we'll still fill up! Stop tryin to save pennies and risk sacrificing your cars ability to function. If your so concerned with gas prices, convert your car to run on vegatable oil.

All octane means is basically its resistance to ignition from heat. Higher compression engines create more heat than lower compression engines. The higher octane fuel prevents pre-ignition (ignition before the spark plug fires). Pre-ignition has the potential to destroy an engine, and/or decrease the life of the engine. However, most of this is experienced in higher horsepower engines. I could go on for a couple pages worth but that is the basics.

I personally use 89 in my 00 TL because I do not notice any sort of preignition, however I'm not racing around with it either. I have a friend that puts 87 in his G35 (says to use premium) and he has had no issues with detonation either. I have never driven a stock vehicle that actually needed premium when it said to. But don't take my word for it (i.e. I am in no way responsible for you screwing up your car)

Anyway, as far as the question goes... I have Puerto Rican midget named Rico under my hood that I have equipped with a spray bottle of gasoline. When I enter boost, he sprays extra gas in and retards the timing at the distributor for me... or he does if he knows what's good for him.

with the tl 92 is acura "recommended" it will run fine with 87 but you will casue i believe pre mature ware and lose of power cuz the fuel pre denate. thats wat the octane readings mean 92 wont pre denate. plus you only save like 5 bucks at the pump not worth it. also with cars that are recommened 92,if you use 87 you get worst gas milage and in the end you will end up pumping more gas and be more expensive. hope that helps

run seafoam, correct tire pressure, clean air filter, oil changes, and not ripping the gas at every light will save you more gas.
