H22 Inlet Manifold Theory And Discussion« » Reply  Edit

There's not alot of information out there for the H22 inlet manifolds. There's only two options i see, Euro-R and Skunk2. Seems like everyone turns a blind eye for us H-series folks?

I've seen the legendary RLZ inlet manifold on birdmans build. Are there any theories or other good aftermarket manifolds out there for the H?

A friend of mine always mentions the "Blacktrack" or "Blacktrax" manifold for his deuce deuce, says its top of the line.

blacktrax port the oem manifolds, they offer different stages to this.

see, i was thinking on doing something like that, why don't edelbrock just create a h-series manifold!

i've had good luck with a ported stock manifold.

It just depends on the builds which manifold is best...

I run the OEM H22 Intake Manifolds hook the secondaries to vtec and seems to have worked both JDM H22's (stock internals) making 200 whp +

The stock H22 manifolds with secondaries have there gains from the factory

Euro R maybe the next best idea if fully built then possibly skunk2.

i did some dyno testing on my civic a while back.. stock h22 was the worst by about 7hp. skunk2, euro r and stock h22 with the butterfly plate removed were all about the same. the skunk carried the power out in the rpms a little better, followed by euro r. the stock manifolds in both configurations fell off really hard at the top.

a long time ago i double stacked the iab plates (basicly the same thing as using blacktrax spacers) and gained nothing, but the power fell off harder than ever..

wow, so stock manifolds give up at high rpm's unless their modified. I guess the best design would be the stock manifold but all port matched? so from factory, the runner lengths are pretty much spot on!?!

until i see dyno sheets on this im calling .

most posts about these show the euro r kicking the s2im's ass. the s2 is a little big for most street all motor builds.

the euroR has a very different power band than that off the skunk2.

jdogg has no reason to lie. But i have tested the stock manifold with the IAB plate deleted and showed decent gains via datalogger. No dyno's.

Are you talkin about completely removing the IAB plate or swapping the IAB plate with a spacer?

no, take it out in general then bolt the plenum back on.

I was just going to cut out the butterflies out and keep the"ring". Effectively creating a larger plenum. (also using an H23 lower manifold. F22A motor, So I won't be revving as high.)

s2 manifold is not junk. it all depends on what setup you use it on.

Is putting it on your aem cai, dc sport header, 2.25 inch exhaust setup going to yield a lot? Probably not

but I use it along with my 72mm tb, ericks racing header and 3 inch exhaust and have trapped 111mph in a car that weighs 2180.

All parts must work in conjunction with each other in order to be maximized imo . . .

People call the s2 manifold junk because they saw some dyno from 3 years ago on a stock motor and it lost 2 whp at some point in the power band. I guess That gives you enough knowledge to call a manifold junk , right ?

CAI vs short ram makes a huge difference in where vtec needs to be, thus gaining/losing a boatload of midrange.

i call the s2 manifold junk b/c the plentum is too small, the runners are too long and it dosnt make enough difference to justify.. my car is H2b so swapping intake manifolds is easy, thats why i did the test. once i made a good header for the motor you see in the dyno it picked up about 10hp with the euro r, final numbers were around 198hp, i put the skunk2 back on and the dyno graph was nearly identicle, but the sk2 manifold is so bulky and long it hit my hood and killed my throttle response.... so back to the euro r it was.

and the iab plate simply makes the runners longer, it does nothing for plentum volume.

remember 2point6 tested the skunk2 mani and lost a very substantial ammount of power over his euro r, that was on a 260hp engine...

lmao, so are there any theories to an intake for the h22? seems like something with a bigger plenum than the skunk2 and shorter runners will be
