defnu's build.
hello. i just picked up this car this year and i've been doing alot of cosmetic touch ups. it's a 1988 flint black metallic dohc zc. AUTOmatic tranny! i bought it with 73,xxx killers on it. if ever in life you plan on getting a jdm crx imported, never choose an 88 zc, unless you like the look. i had to buy all around trim, front end, rear bumper and STILL looking for a cluster and cluster cover 90-91 sIR style. anyways, my goal is to do a h2b swap and FINISH IT! i pretty much have everything and incorporating this into a build thread to maybe help out alot of new EFrs. i'm new to AUTO to MANUAL swaps but thats where you guys come in! i'm going with the EG pedal and lines route....we'll see. i'm at work but heres a current pic and more updates when i get home....oh yeah, my registration is over by april 30th so there will definitely be some progress within the next few days. i want to drive it legally for at least two weeks, thats my motivation.

Re: defnu's build. (EFinawesomeman)
here's a very late update kinda....
we'll there's alot of cosmetic stuff i can work on while i wait for my parts to come in and settle this dispute i have with "Hybrid Performance" on ebay. they don't state that they CANNOT ship to p.o. boxes. so i'm in that same old scenario where i get refunded without even being contacted about before....long story short i HAVE a verified mailing address other than a po box. i could've easily told them if thats all they needed but somebody doesn't know how to run a business. whoever answered this morning sounded like all his friends and family abandoned him or something. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANyways....heres some updates.
i've had some trouble wit my motor. i think my pulley is made out of clay and someone welded the crank pulley bolt on or something...lol. i also don't know where to find the "special" tool. my local honda, elk grove honda, doesn't carry it and is "unable" to order it.YEEEEEEEESS!!!
before the grind....
after the grind.
here's some interior changes for my back, left hand and eyes. sir seats i'm trying to sell. 90-91 usdm cluster cover that i'll need to replace with a jdm one or modify (most likeley modify). of course change from auto to my gsr tranny.
heres the new stuff.
i'm trying to make my own brackets...ended up spending a bit just for parts. hopefully this is all i need. we'll see, right?
painted my vc (undecided)

Re: defnu's build. (88ED8)
no. too much attention as it is. i'm having too much trouble with registering it as a japanese vin vehicle in california. i have a pink permit until the end of this month so i'll be able to claim this as the "stock" motor until the first of may. plus, all my inspirations are n/a builds. i like midget versus giants stuff...i also want to see if i'd be able to run the a/c and powersteering pump...mainly the a/c (after getting it running with just the motor first of course). then i want to pick up another block and head and build those for some nasty numbers. thats pretty far from now but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead! anyways, i'll be posting pics of how the rear brackets will be made and more head and block cleaning. probably even rim painting!

Giants always win
Just noticed you live in Ca. (emission, bla bla bla...)
Ac is possible, there is space for the compressor and the alt, but you'll have to make some sort of coustom ac and alt bracket to mount them low enough to clear the headlight and inward enough to clear the frame, but atleast, phisically, theres enough room.
Powersteering, idk, theres not enough space for that belt, besides you need to shave the PS slot off the crank pully anyways... Maybe if you made another coustom bracket to move the PS pump inward and ran one long belt for everything.... I don't think it's worth the trouble to run AC or PS.

Re: defnu's build. (88ED8)
being broke, my baby son is going to be hanging out with me in the rex so...a/c is something i'd like to at least attempt. i do need a new pulley though...this thing is so messed up! i'm still unable to remove the bolt holding the crankshaft pulley! i think i'm going to bring my block to a shop and have them remove the bolt. i bought the qsd kit without the instructions but i just really need to know where the washers go. little problems here and here but...

Re: defnu's build. (defnu)
i have obviously been putting my project off. this was due to my sister inlaw backing in to my front end!!! heres what happened:
she didn't even think it was a big deal!!! so long story short, i went through her insurance company and they told me that any damages caused between then and the day i get my estimate, they wouldn't pay for. so i stored the car for the mean time and was in search for another dd because this was my only car. desperately, i settled for a minorly overpriced cw 90 crx si...turbo a very crappy and untuned one fortunately it comes with everything to put the motor bac to stock including ac i'll post pics later. WARNING graphics MAY contain rice!?

Re: (Cln94EG1)
one post above you!
anyways, here's the new dd with all you can eat rice inside!
and a crappy turbo setup that i have to put up with.
i dont like these rims, real or replicated
so me and my brother did a quick rattle-can satin white paint job on my wife's rims so i could at least look decent on the outside and make it easier on my eyes! i payed, or will be paying way too much for this car to even mention on here without embarassing myself. most of the interior stuff has already been stripped
and or replaced.
before:
after:
......
started working on my ef8
pedals to choose from
difference in size of booster and master cylinder:
this is where i started freakin out for nothing:
the blue tape is a template for the clutch master cylinder and pedal assembly. i used the gasket for the master cylinder.
and these parts came in this week! cool!
theres still some problems that are messin with my head:
1. stubborn crank pulley bolt. i've broken a socket and a reducer trying this by hand and my impact isn't strong enough.
2. misc nuts and bolts i have to gather for the motor.
3. having to study for a obd0-obd1 harness (i know i'm lame)
4. grinding the block down ...MORE? it's not enough?
5. finding the right torque wrench to invest in. i really need advice in this because i'm on a tool budget. mainly looking for accuracy AND range.
6.TIME!
