Alright guys and gals, I have buddies who have been fighting (literary) about which tuning software is better!!! I want to finalize this controversy once and for all. I want to know what the people of Honda-tech have to say....Neptune or Hondata s300 and WHY?

If you need or want on-board logging, get the Hondata. If you don't need that, like simple/easy to use software, and want great support, get the NepTune RTP.

As a bonus, you have the option of bluetooth wirless tuning and you can get the LCD for NepTune in a week or so (NepTune RTP + LCD is still cheaper than s300 retail price).

Better is a very subjective term. They are both awesome engine management systems but in different ways. For example, Hondata has more features and a slicker interface but Neptune has far superior customer support, lightning fast datalogging, and is cheaper. For 99.9% of boosted Hondas, either system will accomplish what you want it to.

i think they both work great and neither is better than the other. I would rather run neptune though because I don't need on-board datalogging and neptune is more affordable. Neptune just added PWM boost control

You are never going to finalize this debate.

There are supporters for both camps and some have never used both to even give an opinion.

But I stick with Neptune, because of the awesome customer support and not to mention Neptune has all the same features plus some at a lower price.

i don't have experience with either one. i had a s200 but never installed it and just recently i have a s300 on route for delivery. at the time before neptune rtp there was a select few that could tune this. from what i have read, neptune's price is more attractive considering they both pretty much have the same features. but there are more tuners that are familiar with the hondata interface than neptune.

Ok me an my tuner have kinda fallin out, I own a speed shop and am wanting to tune my turbo gsr my self. [maybe customers down the road?] I have been looking at a s300 because I can hook a labtop right to it and adjust it on the fly.

Can I do the same with neptune? I don't want to burn chips. Does neptune come with software? any hidden cost? Who do I need to talk to?

I'm sick of every time I change something spending weeks and weeks trying to get together with my tuner and his crome, that has my multi thousand dollar setup running like complete chit.

Please help, I will take the step to neptune if it has what I need. The bluetooth display and tech support alone has almost sold me. I do have the money set aside for this venture and am serious.

edit: I'm searching.. for answers

No chips, just install the unit and tune on the fly and datalog with one USB connection.

You can order from Xenocron.com or HRTuning.com and the software is located on the HRTuning site.

If you have any questions there's also the support forum on the site as well.

Cool I've been reading up on it a bunch and am really considering it. It looks like I will be able to just pop my crome gold chip out, and install RTP instantly. Jeff evans did a nice write up on the various engine managements and a table of the options of each. RTP is almost the same as s300 really. I'm digging it, just wondering about the no pwm boost control, no egt input and wondering about the secondary map option that it has, race fuel/pump gas?

Thanks for your time,
I will go join the support forum now

edit: I see they have added boost control. Really neptune has a few options s300 doesn't
I almost bought a s300 tonight and have been clicking around in there software all night. I'm glad I found this post.

Yup, you can install the RTP right into that existing setup. NepTune has PWM boost control, the ability to log 4 additional sensors (Which includes EGT), and NepTune was actually the first Honda software with the secondary map option. There's only a few non-essential things it doesn't have. Enjoy!
