Full Royal Sports Bronze has been changed to “Sports Bronze Mod”….the color is the same but the process used is different, and I assume better. Rota also guarantees their finishes so if something happens you could always take it up with them. This information was sent to me from subydude.com aka wheeldude.com. I originally tried to order Rotas from jlbmotorsports.com but they just tried to sell me Konigs and pretty much just talked sh!t about Rotas instead of selling them to me… they lost a sale.

We tried our best to give you honest information. We sell both wheels, have both in stock, and are more than willing to sell you either wheel. We have been selling Rota wheels for over 6 years. We would never refuse to sell the Rota wheels to you.

HOWEVER, we have sold enough of the Full Royal Sports Bronze to wheels to notice the issue with the paint flaking off. It happens to nearly every set. We have a professional obligation to inform the customer of any deficiencies.

This argument can't be won either way. If we do not inform the customer of the problem, and the paint flakes off, we have an angry customer that thinks we ripped them off (this has happened many times, especially here on Honda-Tech). If we do inform the customer of the issue and give them their options, we run the risk of someone thinking we are pushy and trying to sell them something else.

I want every customer to walk away feeling like they were well informed by us. I would rather lose a sale for being honest than gain a sale for telling falsehoods. If you will recall, we told you if you really wanted the Rota wheels you'd be better off with the regular bronze over the "Full Royal Sports Bronze" or the "Sports Bronze Mod" (both are the same color).

You should also note that while we sell over 20 different lines of wheels (including high end Japanese wheels such Rays, Work, etc.), this seller that you purchased from only sells Rota wheels and has nothing to compare them to. Of course he is not going to tell you the truth full royal sports bronze finish, because if he loses the Rota sale he has nothing to offer you.

Note that when the time comes to have your wheels replaced, Rota will require to you have the tires dismounted at your cost, and you will have down time when you send them back. They will replace them, but you will be inconvenienced. We've had this happen so many times that I actually implemented the policy of informing the customer about the problems with the finish.

Please don't take this as an "attack" or an instigation into an argument, but you did specifically mention our company, and I have an obligation to offer an explanation. I just feel bad that you didn't believe us and you made a purchase that you might end up regretting in the future. The purpose of this forum is to create an honest dialogue between users so that good information can be shared.

You may only feel like they're trying to sell you the Heliums because they "have it in stock" but don't forget that they can order anything that is still in production with each and every mfg that they deal with.

To answer your question, rota wheels have poor finishes overall. I've had a set of rota gt-3s. I bent one by hitting uneven pavement on teh freeway going 70 mph. I had that rim REPAIRED. One week later when I received the repaired wheel, I lost control on a freeway on- ramp on a rainy day and hit a curb. The lip of the rim sheered off. I bought one piece of that same rim to replace it. I set it aside my other rims and noticed how off-colored the new wheel was compared to the other ones that were less then 1 year old.

SInce then, I've only gotten Konigs.

As Dustin mentioned, Rota will cover the wheel but you will be without a wheel, out the cash for the labor of dismounting and mounting and balancing, and worst of all if that particular color/wheel is not in stock then you don't get anything until they are back in stock. This is all because the color on the wheel flakes off prematurely due to its poor finish.

There is no such thing as a new and improved Sports Bronze Mod, if there was such a color the Rota inventory would have listed this "new" color. See for yourself.

The color Full Royal Sports Bronze is listed as FRSB. Any SBRZ you see on the stock sheet is the old Sports Bronze from years ago, it has since been discontinued. I'm sorry that you purchased wheels based on the misinformation you received from the other site.

This whole issue arose from customers reporting to us about this Full Royal Sports Bronze / aka Sports Bronze (it is called that now a days) flaking off etc and we believed that the customers were attempting to get a free replacement after damaging their wheels, but as time progressed more and more people complained about the product. It got to the point that customers complained directly to us for not telling them about this color flaking off like this when we thought all along that it wasn't the wheel but it was the customer. After hearing enough of these claims come up we felt obligated to let people know about this color and the potential problems they have. I would say over half the orders for this color resulted in the customer having problems with the finish flaking off.

I hope you now understand where we are coming from now that we offered a more in depth explanation since you couldn't see we were only trying to you by informing you of your potential purchase. This should also help you understand that we don't just bad mouth a product for no reason or for the reason you stated, because we have another wheel in stock.

have you had/heard about any problems with konigs yet?

We sell many different brands of wheels and we haven't had anything come up like this with the Konig product. All the finishes are consistent and of high quality.

in the past two years the only problems ive had with konig was a missing center cap. but thats only because i didnt look throughly in teh box =P
