Default P90X What do you guys think?

Im sure i might get some flaming from this, But I want to know
what you guys think about the P90X program.

Its a 90 Day program, 1 Hour of workout/cardio daily

I dont need to loose weight, Maybe trim my Body fat % a lil.
More cardio and building muscle is what I need/want...

I just gave my camera to my bro and he snapped these of me....

my specs:
19 Year of age
6'5"
165lbs (morning nothing eaten, mid day 173lbs average)
10% bodyfat Which I think is totally wrong thats my electric scale saying that... last year in HS is was like 17% so yeah.... 17 sounds about right

btw dont tell me to eat.... I eat alot,
5bowls of cereal a PB sandwhich and some snacks etc... for breakfast
on average, I can eat a large pizza by myself Really easy...
I need to eat the right stuff... not this crap I am currently eating
and the p90x tells me what I need to eat.




So Im thinking about talking to my dad, he has a gut and I think he should do the P90x Hes strong, hes a firefighter, so his legs and arms are good but his gut is there, so Im thinking if I can get him on it then I'll do it.
I wanna do it even if he doesnt. But yeah. Im thinking about getting it...
Is it a wste of time... If anything I think its to get me doing SOMETHING...
its an hour a day of workout/cardio so it cant hurt me... But Im not looking for Exteeme Muscles and stuff,

My goal is, To appear a bit more "Built" to gain some Muscles in my arms and shoulders, and tone up my Chest/abs
all in all, I want to tone up....

I've heard good things about it, give it a shot.

You're closer to 10% than 17%, by far, I'd say 11-13%, hard to tell @ that angle (w/ that lighting)... No one flames on this board, but 99% of the people aren't going to believe that you're "eating enough". If you want to get bigger, you're going to have to eat more, period. Let us know what you decide.

yeah im with him with the whole body fat percentage...but my friend is actually thinking of trying this as well..but he is already pretty built. but anything is possible for sure. if you put 100 percent into it your going to get 100 percent results..im no pro. but im just saying...doesnt hurt to try. good luck.

Post what you eat on a TYPICAL day. Exactly. Like what you ate yesterday without BSing. Something consistent not some "ideal" day.

Ok I'll record what I eat tomm.

The way im thinking is,
If I eat a whole lot its not going to help me.
But I dont have "Health" foods in my house...
So I try not to eat alot because I think its going to hurt me.

I have started dropping soda and only water (Thx to my g/f)
Now I drink almost a gallon of water a day, or milk/juice etc... I just try to stay
away from soda and Kool-aid etc...

my bro is in Football (but is more skinny than me) and he has
this huge thing of MassXXX build,

Im going to start using this, after I workout and run.
drink one glass, Would it be bad and hurt me or would it be ok...?

Yeah I was skinny and started drinking mass XXX and that shit put a lot of fat on me.

Its a bunch of sugars and fats and swept-off-the floor quality protein.

I hate to bust your balls so much in the thread cause I know you just want to get bigger and not being hostile, but you don't eat enough period. Lifting does NOT make you gain any weight, it makes the weight you gain more likely to be muscle when combined with progression and "the right kinds of foods". Its not rocket science.


You're talking about leaning out...so you can see what? You already have basically no fat....the reason you arent defined is because there is nothing to define! Definition is the appearance of MUSCLE under low body fat. You are not going to put on much size if you aren't willing to give a little to get a little....i.e. a little fat to get muscle. You should have no problem dropping whatever fat (it won't be much) you gain one you have a solid base...don't chase 2 birds at the same time. If anyone knows this its me .


Still waiting on that diet man. Not being an ass but trying to help and kick the real deal.

No diet, I just eat whatever I want when I want.

So I shouldnt use the mass builder?

And its not so much I want to be bigger,
I do, But I dont in the same way.
I really Just want to tone up. Im not looking for be big and buff, and I dont want to.
I just want to get a lil more defined Which I could prolly get from working out alone. and I dont know why but I actually lost 10lbs becuase I weighed 175 last time I checked.... And I know eating doesnt make me gain 10lbs throughout the day.

But like I said, Im here for help, Dish it out wether its being nice or not.
My goal it more toned. Not buff and beafy and big.... I would like to stay the same BF% and just a lil more muscle...

I know how it is to be tall, I'm almost the same height (1" shorter).

I went from 180something fat, cut down, was super skinny, and now im 225 fat haha. But I've gained a bit of muscle.

ok, usually people your height, who arent "big" but are "healthy and strong" looking are on the lower end of 200lbs and fairly lean. You can get there in more than one way, and there will be controversy over how clean your diet should be...I'm gonna say your best bet is to eat whatever the hell you want with few restrictions: It isn't total junk and you are getting protein and cals. You can get pickier with the cleanliness all that affects is body comp and energy etc.

Just work towards breaking 205lbs first then evaluate, eat 300g protein a day and 4000 cals. If you don't gain 1lb a week, up it to 4500 etc etc.


If you need ideas to up calories, ask when it happens, cross that bridge when it gets there. Theres a lot of tricks to up them without it being junk but save it for later.


you aren't gonna look big unless you are 260+ so eat away

Hows that going to make me build muscle... Im adding fat....

Why would I add fat? that would make my (What I have) abs etc... go away...

Or If I start working out and stuff pretty good with everything you said would
I add that at muscle mostly?

muscle doesnt weigh 0lbs

if you gain muscle, you gain weight

if you gain fat, you gain weight.

its up to you to make the weight gained as much muscle as possible

A good amount will become muscle?

I for some reason still think I should watch what I eat to make sure
I dont add all that as fat and try and eat and get 4000 etc.. but not as fat...
I mean is KFC really not going to hurt me? or Chinease buffets etc...?
Becuase I LOVE eating that stuff.... Chinease brown rice and chinease chicken
Is my favorite foods...

this all depends on genetics, but you have the freedom to find out.
its impossible to predict the nuances of diet for everyone most of the time. You have to try and see and use your head to guess until you know.

Also, how far are you from nashville (time wise)? 30 minutes?

yup about 30-40 min from nashville...

BTW my parents are firefighters, As am I but still in school. and
the station my dad works as has a nice workout rooms with EVERYTHING
I would need. dumbells from 10lbs to 110lbs (One 50 year old firefighter my dad works with uses the 110 to curl!!!! ) anyway. yeah.

Im currently warming up everyday untill I actually start a program.
Just now I,
15 pushups
50jumping jacks
15 pushups
20 curls per arm (25lbs dumbell)
10 curls per arm (Same as above)
50 jumping jacks
15 pushups
10 curls per arm
50jumping jacks

Im going to continue that for a few more min and then go run a lil bit.
Im working right now for cardio untill I figure out a program Im going to do.

Im going to talk to my dad and see about thw P90x. Id really like to try it
he needs the diet and workout part, and I need the workout part.

Most GNC brand stuff is poor quality and overpriced. I would go with a better brand like Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass, Cytosport Cytogainer, Prolab N-Large, etc. Mail order from places like dpsnutrition.com will always be cheaper.

I'm pretty sure you're like me, so don't worry about adding fat. I don't think we can get fat if we tried, and whatever fat that we might put on we can lose pretty quickly.

hey jose...if you are trying to gain like me...muslce and what not [mass]. i wouldn't run. because you are trying to bulk up and get muscle...not lean it out just yet...right now im just bulking...well trying to at least...and then im gonna lean out from there. cant lean from anything if you dont have anything to lean on....like the post mentioned above.
