Rear NSX brakes - Civic with drum spindles...are ON!!!!« » Reply  Edit

Ladies and gentlemen, for my next presentation, I have put ventilated discs onto the back of an EK chassis Honda Civic...with its stock trailing arms.

This setup uses 11.1" rear ventilated discs, aluminum centering rings, NSX calipers/brackets, and for now OEM pads and shims. And amazingly, yes, I have an e-brake too!

Pics suck, car is dirty, better pictures to come. Overkill? Maybe, but this helps my front bias problem with my 97+ NSX brakes up front. FYI, these are the small 91 NSX rear brakes, so I am still more front biased in braking than an NSX (as I should be.) Sorry there were no install pics taken during the upgrade.

Oh, the S2000 rear upgrade for 9.4" discs is now available as well as the drum to 11.1" S2000 rear upgrade. This NSX adapter bracket will not be for sale for now, sorry.

UPDATE:

The 11.1" rear vented NSX brakes were upgraded. now running an 11.8" rear vented disc, the 97+ NSX rear brackets, but same calipers. The brackets must be modified by filing into the hangar on the bracket for the caliper's teeth to clear (just a few mm).

Very nice! So this is the rear NSX calipers? This would definitely be a nice setup to complement the much neglected rear brakes.

What shade of blue is that? How close to the Spoon color?

Thanks guys. This is paired with my 11.8" NSX fronts (my avatar picture) and hopefully i'll have a better pic or two tomorrow after they bed in more and have sunlight.

Others may build this setup in the future but remember you saw it here first.

My rear NSX calipers that are leaky are for sale if anyone wants em to rebuild and mimic these.

I've just been looking at your other threads/DIY's this week, and this is icing on the cake!

Are there any less expensive calipers/discs that you can use to convert the rear drums? Since its not uncommon to spend $200 on a basic rear disc swap, I think this (and any other 'odd' swap) could become very popular.

*starts buying all the rear NSX calipers he can*

i have a rear drum to disc adapter plate. these plates and Integra rear calipers/pads/rotors I could sell you for 200$, however this is another design, not one i made (this is for the 9.4" rear discs.)

I have no drum to disc adapter right now, just this drum to NSX disc and drum to S2000 disc brake setup, none for the drum to 9.4" disc. I may build em in the future, however i dont have the e-brake cables.

I'd be really interested in seeing your adapter. Or at least be given an explaination.

I was looking for drum trailing arm pics, and I think I know how you did this. I can't wait until it warms up around this state!!
