question about powersteering« » Reply  Edit

i had the pump and reservor removed for about half a year now. so there no power steering at all. now i want to go back to power steering. Do i just put pump back on and reservor and line and etc and just fill with power steering fluid and start the car? Or there something i need to do before i do all this?

given that you took out everything without kinking a tube etc, then you should be able to just put it back like you had it. be sure not to forget about the cooler.

Yeah, there's a PS cooler in front of the radiator...but if you just put everything back in how you had it you should be able to get it working.

If I were you, I'd fill it, then use the helms' draining procedure once to get that stagnant fluid out, and get some fresh stuff in there. Plus, that will aid in burping the air out as well.

basically, you just set it up so that 1) the low pressure return hose is venting into a waste container and 2)you didn't leave anything open that's gonna spill

you don't want to fill the reservoir with new fluid if you're just gonna drain the old crap out.

There is a special procedure for it, I really recommend getting a manual. I don't remember it off the top of my head, and I'm not sure you're ready to figure this out alone.
