Ok folks, I'm back. I guess I can self proclaim myself the "donation asker" of GDD.

I remember the first time was when I was sending packages from Portugal out to some of our deployed troops over in the desert. Awesome results from the H-T crowd, and I managed to send out quite a few packages to some needy folks over there during the Holiday Season. to you guys

The latest one was my effort to raise $1,000 for the American Cancer Society while I was training for the Honolulu Marathon. I promised you guys that I would hold up my end of the deal and you guys all came through and blasted my $1,000 goal to pieces. I ended up being able to donate over $1,300 to the ACS, which gave me the extra kick to finish up the marathon. Team work!

Now, I hope I've been able to establish a bit of credibility here with that bit of background. Johnny can vouch for me.

Anyway, here's my latest endeavor. I'm a bit late getting this thread made, so we're going to have to hurry a bit here to make this work.

Amber(AmberDi), one of our own, has been fighting a couple of battles for a while now.

One has been against our completely messed up health care/insurance system while the other has been fighting Lupus (google it, it's some bad juju). I'm not going to go into details. It's not my place to do. I'm sure Amber will enlighten you all with whatever information she feels comfortable sharing. But here's a thread that will explain most of what has been going on.

That was H-T's last attempt to try to help her out. Now I'm shooting for a little more direct and hopefully effective approach.

Amber has a daughter and a son who she loves more than anything in this world. She's engaged to be married to a guy who's willing to take the plunge with Amber knowing damn well how rough the road ahead will be.

Basically what I would like to do is to within the next couple of days be able to scratch together some cash for her so she can give her children a really nice Christmas this year. A Christmas which I hate to say, COULD possibly be the last one they'll ever have together again. I'm not trying to BS you guys here or even play the sappy role. It's reality.

Amber is a great person, and a wonderful mother. She's also very proud and would probably have a rough time asking for something like this herself. This is something I want to do for her. Something we can ALL do for her.

I'm scanning in some copies of medical bills,paperwork etc as well as the amount of people here that know me personally and can vouch for what's going on. The PLAN is to beat the disease because I am NOT giving up, The fact Jan did this for me was shocking and at first I was beyond embarrassed for people to know how bad it had gotten.

I have Lupus as he said and it has been attacking my kidneys for years, I went from Dr to Dr within my health plan and it went undiagnosed. After the birth of my son it got so much worse and I was sent to a specialist who ruled it Lupus and RA. The lupus attacks your own organs as though they are foriegn objects that shouldn't be in your body. I swell up on my lower body sometimes almost 3 times my normal size while the top half stays fairly normal size. The toxins aren't filtering from my system the way they are supposed to so in a sense my body is poisoning itself. I had dialysis until we couldn't pay for it out of pocket anymore ( I HAD insurance through Kaiser,was dropped and now with a pre existing haven't been able to get insured). The medications I an supposed to take are thousands of dollars a month so obviously I have had to stop taking them until we move to FL and I get on my fiances plan. He gave up so much to help me without batting an eye, I am very lucky to have someone who would give up everything he had to keep me alive.

Right now I'm fairly pain medicated after a VERY long night being up in pain so if my post is filled with ramblings or spelling errors I apologize. I am going to upload some paperwork,bills, pics of me in the hospital etc so that HT can know they are not being jerked around. I feel like a huge failure at life because I've always been the one in the past making sure everyone did their good deeds and helped others out and now here I am in a position I NEVER imagined myself in. This wasn't the life I had planned, I was supposed to finish law school, get married in Dec 08 and we were in the process of buying a house in FL with all our savings. Now I have 44 dollars in the bank

Ok I'm going to nap, hope this stuff wears off and post more information in a less *cloudy* state

On another note, I've been hearing nothing but bad things about Kaiser lately. I imagine you could possibly (small possibility) get insurance elsewhere, but your premiums would be through the roof, especially since you've already experienced dialysis which is very serious in case anyone doesn't already know.

My wife still gets random bruises all over her body, but the joint pains and edema come and go. I remember when she was in the hospital 4 years ago during Xmas and I thought it would be her last.

Those of you who helped and send kind wishes to my family, well it just means so much. I never thought strangers would be nicer than my own family. Jan has been inspirational to me since day 1 and I have gotten a lot of positive PM's from people who have been throuh similar situations or lost loved ones to the disease and it has all helped me to remember what I am fighting for and to not give up because my monsters need their mom. People here who know me will tell you I am stubborn as heck and don't PLAN to let some stupid disease be my end before I even hit 30. I have school to finish, a wedding to plan ( in like 2010 haha) and 2 kids to raise. My plate is full so I don't have time to lay down and let something take over. Just have to remain positive and make positive things happen. I know getting to FL is the answer because once I am there I will have insurance with my fiances work and I can get ALL of my medications and treatments without issues. When the days are sucky due to pain I just remind myself soon enough I'll be on that humidity and my biggest worry should be frizzy hair

thank you guys so much, such good people, also thank you for not making me feel like scum of the earth for breaking down and accepting help. That was VERY hard for me to do.

Agreed, so this isn't going to be just a christmas thing. I think we shuold atleast try to keep this up for as long as possible. The paypal account you have, will this be open at all times? or Are you limiting the time on how long donations can be taken? Anywho, something should be in there from me tonight.

I don't even know where to begin with thank yous, you guys made magic happen in just a few days! I'm gonna run to the bank and run to Toys R Us right quick. I'll post pics when I get home and of tomorrow morning @ the shock they are going to be in. My 9 year old thinks she's getting nothing at all and since under the tree is empty she still thinks it's true. When she wakes up and sees anything High School Musical and Hannah Montana stuff.. haha just wait for the pics of a psychotic 9 year old
