OH dang..! This is going to be a great thread..!

The d40 is a great camera...just lacks an internal focus motor which has its plus's and minus's.

LOL, I don't know of a single good thing about lacking the focus motor

Well, I guess it makes the camera cheaper.

This is a sample of whats displayed when you look through the viewfinder. The squares are autofocus points, you can select either of them and the camera will autofocus on that area of the image.

This is similar to what you'd see through the viewfinder in a 350D/400D.. notice the 9 autofocus points.

the main thing that makes me wanna get rid of my d40 is the internal focus motor that it doesnt have...cause with the lenses i have i have to manual focus all the time..and afs lenses are too dam expensive

Thats exactly why I sold mine and upgraded. I feel like in the long run, it saves money not to buy a D40, because of the money you'll save on lenses, or on the lenses you'll be able to just that you just couldn't use before.

Thats why I remind everyone of that when they bring the D40 up, I just don't want people to buy one and end up dissatisfied with their camera like I was.

If you aren't planning on upgrading lenses, then its a great camera.

all it is really is just sitting down, playing with the different settings, reading the book. it takes time to figure things out. if you want to learn thats the fastest way.

i mean i'm no PRO, but i do pretty decent
