Default higher after getting lowered...

a professional shop installed tein H techs for me but after they jacked it down the car looked higher!! they decided to re order S techs for me, but now that I've driven it home i've noticed that it is actually lower and the H techs seem to be working. though very disappointing....... Is this common? There were 4-5 guys at the shop that didn't know why.

i dont think they preloaded the bushings....

htechs have a MINIMAL drop. if they didnt properly install the suspension and tighten the bushings with the arms loaded at virtual ride height, then the bushings are going to be pushing the car up further than it should be.

the car will eventually drop, only at the expense of torn bushings.

The car seems to have dropped to the the H tech amount. How do I know if I have turn bushings and how much money does that cost to fix? And would it drop in just a few miles of driving? Or overnight? I mean as soon as I got home it looked like it was what the H techs originated, but as soon as it was off from the jack it looked... still jacked.

you always have to preload the bushings when installing new springs.

overall the tein drop springs don't really lower your car as much. i had the s-techs before didn't like them. as far as now i have spoon drop springs and it gave a nice clean drop.

Yes it's possible the springs settled. If you haven't yet gotten an alignment (to fix toe), you should seriously think about taking the time to reset all your suspension bushings. This relieves the twist that they now have at the new ride height, and is ALWAYS skipped by shops when they lower cars.

Here's how:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 94eg! &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"><u>Resetting your suspension bushings:</u>

1- Put entire car up on jack-stands
2- Place jack under nearest LCA
3- Jack up LCA until car lifts off nearest jack-stand
4- Loosen all control arm bolts that go through the center of a bushing (relieves twist)
5- Re-tighten all bolts and torque to spec (locks bushings at new ride height)
6- Lower the jack and move to next corner of car to repeat steps 1-5

This is important because as you change ride height, the rubber bushings begin to twist. And if your bushings remain twisted all the time, then they will wear out much sooner than normal. The point of this procedure is to reset the bushings to the new ride height and allow the bushings to live a long life.

On Civics & Integras, this procedure works for every suspension bushing except the rear trailing arm bushings, and the rear inner UCA bushings. This is because they don't have a bolt traveling through the center, but instead use a fixed rod that then bolts to the chassis. In order to reset these types of bushings, they would need to be removed, clocked & reinstalled at the proper angle. This isn't typically practical for most people, so it's common to just leave them as is. Then, once it's time to replace them, have new ones installed at the proper angle of rotation to ensure they will live normal lives...</TD></TR></TABLE>
