Would this be a good Accord to buy?

Would this be a good Accord to buy?
I saw it in the paper, just wanted some opinions about it. I want something that will last a long time, good gas mileage, and be reliable. I am seriously looking for a car like this
2001 2 door Accord. 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual, 6-disc changer, sunroof, cloth interior. 68,500 miles. Asking price is $9800
The seller said it was a LX but someone I talked to thought it had to be an EX for it to have a sunroof.
I don't know alot about Hondas, thanks for any help you could give me.

That is so an EX. Sunroof and 6 disc?? Only way to tell it if its a LX and an EX is the rear drums and steel wheels for LX.

Check out the price on Edmunds.com, see if the $9800 is “reasonable”. It sounds a little high though, I paid $17,400 for my ’99 Accord LX with 5-speed manual, new (’98 through ’02 are basically the same car, 6th generation). The sunroof and 6-disc changer would have been aftermarket add-ons.
Anyway, ask that it be taken to your local Honda dealer, I believe that they will do inspections for a flat price of something like $75? As far as reliability, the main issue with that era of Accords is the automatic transmission but the one you are looking at is manual, so it should be a good, solid car.

I looked it up on edmunds.com and in "clean" condition, which I think is what it is. It says $8775 is the value for Private Party. nadaguides.com said $8800 value.
I haven't discussed it with the owner yet but he said he will also knock some off the price because he said the timing belt will need to be changed soon. I called the Honda dealer and the service dept. said it would be $450 to change the timing belt.
I wouldnt want to pay more than $8300-8400 for it.
What do you guys think?

It could have an "aftermarket" sunroof. I used to sell cars for like 6 yrs. We used to have sunroofs installed all the time. The only way to be sure of the model is by using the VIN #. If the person really wants to sell the car. They won't mind pulling a carfax for you. This will tell you everything you want to know about the vehicle. Oh & $9800 is definitley high on that car. Start the negotiation @ like $7500. You should end up somewhere around $8500 which is a reasonable price. Good luck!

for a 6 year old car @ 68k i don't think that is too bad of a price. could be a lil lower though. calculate everything out and that car gets less than 1000 miles on her per month. for most commuters its 1200-1500 per month.

I looked at some other sites: nadaguides and kbb and the value was a little higher than it said before.
I ran a Carfax and it is an EX. They will take 9000 for sure but I offered $8800 and am waiting for them to call back.

Even if you dont get this particular Accord, your description above will be the exact definition of an Accord. Good luck with this one or finding a good one for a better price .
