Tranny swap, or new car?
Ok, I have a '93 Integra GS with an AT that I got from my sis for $500. I really want a 5-speed. Should I try to do the swap, or should I pick up a '94 Integra LS with a 5-speed for $2800? I really like the G2 tegs, so I don't know which one to do. Buying the '94 will take some convincing with my wife too. Any advice?

I can't just think about cost. I also have to keep in mind that I have never done anything like this, and I use this car as a daily driver. So if I take it all apart, and can't get it back together, how am I gonna get to work? I would recruit some help, but I just moved to Monterey, CA from VA, and I don't know anyone here yet.

to a logical thinker.
You could try and find someone on these boards to help you out that lives in the Monterey area. If not you could take it into a shop and see if you guys can do it that day, or try and schedule an appointment.
A AT to MT swap really isn't easy. It's not hard either but it is time consuming, especially as you will run into randomly finding out you need a lot of other miscellaneous parts.
If you want simplicity, get the lady's approval and get the newer Integra. But if I were you I'd hold it out and wait for a 5 speed DA to pop up. Theres no point in buying a car that you aren't satisfied with the body style and are just buying it because it's manual.

Just buy another DA but 5 speed. Should be able to get a decent 1 for $1500 or so. Now you can play with the 5-speed and use the auto as a daily.
