The Ultimate Honda Chassis Code List« » Reply  Edit

So this is a Honda/Acura chassis code list that I've been working on for awhile. What you see here is approximately three years worth of research of my own. That is the reason for the watermarks; to prevent people from copying the full list and claiming it as their own.

Please, if you see any wrong information or you have any missing information to add, post it here or IM me. Please make it clear which line of text you need me to edit.

The orange fields are fields with missing, incomplete or suspect information.

For anyone who does not know, your chassis code is IN YOUR VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). The fourth, fifth and sixth digits of your VIN are your chassis code. Your chassis code DOES NOT CHANGE no matter what engine you put in your car or what you do to your car. You can do a full Type R conversion on your '96 CX hatch and it's still going to be an EJ6 because the VIN does not change.

Thanks. I'll wait for a few corrections to be listed before I start correcting them since they're images and need to be made back into images and then watermarked whenever I edit.

Nice work

I did notice an error on the spec for DB2. Should be 2DR not 4DR, and it's only available with MT.

Like I said, about three years of work. Lots of websites, things I had already known (mostly US) and I got the JDM EPC awhile back so that helped me get a lot of JDM codes right.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Hey NOFX,

You said, "For anyone who does not know, your chassis code is IN YOUR VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). The fourth, fifth and sixth digits of your VIN are your chassis code".

I have a 1975 Civic CVCC. The fourth, fifth, and sixth digits of the VIN are 103. It doesn't seem like that would be the chassis code. Maybe the formula doesn't work for cars that old. The VIN number of my car starts with SG. Could that be the chassis code?

Thanks.

That might be it.

The modern VIN came into being in 1980. So cars made before that often won't have the format we're used to. The majority of the cars on this forum were made before 1980, so it was fairly safe for me to post that. The majority of the cars I posted actually were also made after 1980. Honda came into the US automotive market first in 1966 with limited success and after the 1979 energy crisis probably started to get more popular.

You can IM me your VIN and I'll try to find more info on it if you would like. I might have some websites for you too.

After talking with mrrsbhatia through IM, I'm certain that his car is an SGE, or an SG for short (comparable to calling a car an EJ).

His 1975 Honda Civic CVCC would come stock with an ED4, 1.5 SOHC 8V I4 3 barrel carb. It was rated at 52hp @ 5000 rpm and 68lb-ft @ 3000rpm. This engine was an option for the '75-'79 Civic CVCC 2dr (SG_), 3dr (SG_) and wagon (WB_).

For the most part the JDM codes were taken from the JDM EPC. That includes the year 1994.

I believe you're referring to the DB6 though.

Upon a look back at my EPC, I understand why. In order to look at the trims, you need a chassis number. I didn't have one that matched, so I didn't get those codes.

Oh, and it came in manual too.
