Final Drive Gears from MFactory after 1 year of race use.
Hi guys, I am currently rebuilding my transmission and going to the new 5.2FD from MFactory. Last year I ran their 4.64 FD and here is what it looks like after about 1,000 miles of pure race use 1 year later. This includes standing starts (drag race style for every race, on sticky tires!). note: what looks like little scratches is actually small hairs from the shop rag that I used to clean the old oil off. There are actually zero scratches on either gear.
ring gear:
shaft gear:
no chips, no pits, no scaring
They are one of my sponsors but if I had any problems at all with any of their parts during a race the HT community would be the 1st to know about it.

I just bought David Rierson's 4.64... hopefully the H1 motor will have the same luck!

Looks minty fresh to my highly unqualified eye A few of us are hoping for a production D-Series first gear and if it has this quality behind it we'll be more than satisfied!

question
Thanks for the update!
Does this particular countershaft have machined grooves in the 1st gear area? Just wondering if you saw wear on the needle bearings there.

Wow! Looks like new.
Do you think you're fairly hard, comparatively, on the transmission (driving style)?

I definitely did not baby it. This is after 16 track days that included 12 races all of which started off with a standing start. Also all events were on race tires. That's a fair amount of abuse dished out in 1 year on the parts.

for the B18c they have:
4.05
4.785
4.928
Let me know if you need one, and you want to save some $$ on it

yeah they have thick *** teeth on the ring and pinion look at that ****. i can tell this is a well designed final drive. it's about time. is anyone running straight cut or helical/semi helical dog engagement gearset with this? imagine that.

Re: Final Drive Gears from MFactory after 1 year of race use. (not so civic)
seeing how MFactory makes FD's for many different trans, i got my hopes up to see one for a b16a cable trans.
why no love for this trans? NO one makes a FD for this trans.

Re: Final Drive Gears from MFactory after 1 year of race use. (PIC Performance)
i cant see how theres not enough demand. there is ALOT of people with crx/ef's that have this trans, as its cable and cheap. and very short geared as it is. i just want a 4.7 or 4.9 FD option.

Re: Final Drive Gears from MFactory after 1 year of race use. (577HondaPrelude)
Everyone looks for a higher numeric FD value, while I'm apparently the only guy on the planet looking for a lower ratio. Any chance a V6 Accord FD ratio is a lot lower than the H22A1 tranny with its 4.27?
The reason I have this "problem" is due to the tiny tires on my H22 Mini.

Check:

There's a bunch of factory 4.062 gears, and some with a real long 5th too.
OTOH: If you get cams and valvesprings (cough cough) you can spin your motor to 8400 RPM
