DIY HOW-TO: SIMPLE HEADLIGHT WARNING BEEPER
Want your CRX or EF to beep when you leave the lights on?
Got about $7 for materials?
This is an easy old trick mentioned here and there, but its often done incorrectly by shoving wires underneath fuses. There is a better way to do it, and I've written it up for posterity.

thats funny if its that easy why didnt honda do it. but i think if youve been driving hondas for a while you know theres no warning and you turn your lights off even when they are allready off. atleast i do.

Same here, I did the same thing a couple months ago, everyone at work thought I was crazy and then I showed them when I had found the right connectors and everything. Had the same thing done on my old EG also. I first did it on my EG after I had killed the battery 2 or 3 times.

It works perfectly...one of those really nice easter eggs on EF's. I dont claim to be the person who figured it out.
I believe those slots were meant to power some kind of accessory (fog light relay?) that actually worked in some other way. Its just a coincidence that they make a closed curcuit when the lights are on and the keys are off.

Re: (sneakerfern)
for some reason this didnt work for me. but the buzzer I use came with a headlight buzzer kit meant to conect to fuses. so maybe its little different? I just hooked it back up to the fuses, i hate looking at that, its cheesy. i wanted this method to work!

lol.... i one of those people who did it incorrectly by sticking wire underneath fuses.

Re: DIY HOW-TO: SIMPLE HEADLIGHT WARNING BEEPER (fireant)
funny. ive had my headlight warning beeper for the past 8 years (after first leaving my lights on and draining my battery in my first year of ownership), but i didnt do it this way. theres a combination of fuses that you bridge and just stick the bare ends of the wire into (no plug required) and will trigger just like a headlight warning. i dont know off the top of my head what those fuses are, but i thought everyone knew about it....

i jsut did it in about 5 minutes. heres how it looks for me:
the wires correspond as follows
beeper red wire -> right plug (my red clip)
beeper black wire -> left plug (my blue clip)
works perfectly.

Re: (Iron_Forrix)
So I just had to see if i could get this method to work with a different buzzer. I got a piezo 12 volt dc buzzer and it works, and it sounds alot more pleasant too.
so the reason using fuses is incorrect/bad is the slot gets stretched out from the clips that connect to the fuse, making it larger. I had to tweek the fuses that i had used so they work/make contact. I also noticed my car starts without a fuse for the starter signal, wtf? does this mean wiring problems?
