Default shocks/spring combos vs. adjustable coilover kits

Im deciding on suspension for my hatch and don't know the first thing about it, it will be putting down 450 whp not going to be a daily driver, mostly track and strip. I've already got traction bars, urethane bushings sway bars and strut bars.

I'm thinking about preloading, probably slammed in the front moreso than the rear. I still would like to corner pretty well though is that possible with preloading? I've been researching on shocks, I've looked at shock dynos for hours and don't understand ****. I know there's spring companies that can pretty much give u any stiffness and height you ask but would I be better going with say a fully adjustable coilover setup? I had the tokico hp kit on my coupe and they weren't very stiff at all a lot of body roll and tire rubbing.

A technical track suspension setup vs a drag setup.... they are very different.

One is to allow maximum grip through a corner, and the other is made for straight line performance...

you can go with an adjustable damper and then have different springs, cause springs aren't that hard to swap out...

There are many manufacturers that make dampers, each have their own pros and cons...

if your racing, then maybe you might want them to be easily rebuild able.

IMO your best bet is the damper/spring combo, instead of a full coilover. This way you are not limited to the springs that only work on the full coilover's perch... and you have more options...

it really is all about how much you want to spend, and how versatile your setup has to be.

IMO true coil overs are the way to go if you have the money up front. if you bought sleeved coilovers or a good set of springs and like koni yellows or equal, you would end up paying close to the same amount as true coilovers. i recently got as set of AMR coilovers. check'em out

they have custom setups, lifetime warranty and height & dampening adjustable. i was sold on just these specs.

Yeah the AMR coilovers seem to be what I would need, not that expensive either. Why aren't they more popular I've never heard of them. You said you had them in your car hows the ride? I'm willing to give up a smooth ride if I can keep the tires from rubbing and the body rolling in corners. I'm gonna either go with 15s or 16" wheels and maybe some street legal drag radials.

well my car has been down since june. due to a wreck. i am slowly getting her back into shape. i haven't been able to really drive her yet so i don't know exactly how the new setup compares to my last setup. but they aren't popular because he pretty much just came out last summer and there just isn't enough advertising to promote it on here. but the manufacture he uses is a big name. they are function 2 coilovers but with AMR specs. so the product is legit. but i reviewed every single post before i made a decision, and everyone pretty much had good things to say. they seem to really benefit the drag and auto cross drivers with the custom rates.

What do you guys think about Omni power race coilovers, Omnipower sells package deals with camber arms front and rear, adjustable ball joints and rear LCAs all for around 900 and thats the cost of some race coilovers alone. Sounds like the quality may not be as good as others does anyone have info on these, pros/cons?
