88-91 H22 Swap Info
I am creating this post to educate all the 3rd(1988 - 1991 Prelude) gen prelude owners on this site since it is once of the most poplular site to for Honda info.
I know there was a write up on doing the H22 swap into the 88-91 prelude on here somewhere so I am posting up the most current information to date.
I will update this info as we continue to improve and add to this massive project.
I now support the 88-91 Prelude community with the H22/23 or F series swap, and I make the mounts and supporting Traction Bar system as well, and sell the H22 conversion harness made by WireWorx only through me.
Here is what we have do date:
Mounts:
(The Old AZ Race and Machine mounts stopped production in 2010, I took over the design now. Pictures below are from the first sets.)
One of the members on http://www.preludepower.com that purchased and installed the first set.
Here is the clearance from a stock stance(meaning not lowered)
Here are some links to write ups that were done:
The current swap thread: http://www.preludepower.com/forums/s...d.php?t=315370

Re: 88-91 H22 Swap Info (Hawkze_2.3)
Me too I really loved my old 3rd gen with fluttering eyelids she was sexy, I now have 5th gen & would love to combine older car with newer h22. With handling and braking mods it would make a real drivers car, takes me back to my teens nearly.

I feel combining the old with the new on this car would make a perfect match. The only thing this car needed was a better powerplant, but back in the day it was built it was considered a peppy little compact sport car. So, bringing it up to date is the perfect scenario.

Re: (1funryd)
Wow, thats an awsome guide!
I have 1 question though, will the same things apply for my 2nd Gen?
Its almost the exact same body style, and my engine bay looks a bit bigger than that 3rd Gen.

Almost doesn't count
So no, this wouldn't work with the 2nd gen.

I do not know? I used to own a 2nd gen too, and I know there is a guy who successfull swapped a B18 into it.
As for the H22, I cannot say, you will have to take some pics and get some measurements from the engine bay so we can compare.

I thought he was asking if the H22 mount kit and the write-up's would also apply for 2nd gen ludes... I honestly doubt it, but the best way to find out would be to take measurments, like you said.
2nd gen Prelude was my first car BTW
After that I had an 89 Si. Then a 95 VTEC, a 94 VTEC, and now another 95 VTEC. (I also had 2 EG's and a DA integra).
That's 5 Preludes. And I hope that's not the final count as I'd love do a 90-91 Si + H22A project.

Ok, I'll take some measurements tomorrow when its light, and i'll post it on this thread.
-Edit-
Heres a pick of my engine bay, it looks identical ^^. But I swear mine looks bigger.

Re: (BlueLude84)
Ok lets compare:
3rd gen
2nd gen
It seems that your engine bay is smaller, remember you have a SOHC and the 3rd gens are DOHC.
From what I can see, the engine will be too big and too much custom work to be viable, but this is only from a visual observation.

Man I love you. I avidly browse the PP.com forums and I'm glad you're making a valid impression on here too. If I ever get my second 'lude the H22 swap is in the future! keep up the good work.

Re: (Montx)
Do you have the measurements for that cars bay?
So that way we can compare tomorrow when I take mine?
And if not an H22 swap, what would you reccomend for a swap into my car?

Re: (BlueLude84)
Ok, this is what I found for swapping the B16A into your car:
The cost of this project was 10,000 +.
Here is the link for you to read up on it.
http://www.geocities.com/b16aprelude/index.html
And here is a picture of a B18 swapped into the 2nd gen Lude:
I hope this helps, of course you can find all this info at: http://www.preludepower.com
It will be in the 2nd Gen Section on the site.

B16/18/20b Swap mounts
I now support a new swap into the 3rd gen Preludes.
Just finished up the B16/18/20b swap mounts and sell them as well as figured out the rod shift linkage to support the swap.
Now all 88-91 Preludes can decide whether they want the Civic/Integra B series motors and tranny's or H22/23 or F series swaps.
This is a huge step forward being able to go between platforms for a very unsupported chassis that has out handles pretty much anything out there in stock trim.
