Are those Formula Atlantic motors? They don't use any production parts--the heads are different castings, the cranks are not factory, practically none of the parts in the motor are oem Toyota. I don't believe that there are 250 hp 4age builds running around with oem heads, blocks and cranks.

Running 13:1 on pump gas is stupid. Why do it? So you can say you have a 13:1 motor, but you have to run 18 degrees total timing? Why not 11.5--make more power and have a more reliable motor? Unless you plan on running 100+. I have a 12:1 motor that I broke in using nothing but 100 octane Sunoco 260 unleaded--now I use a 50/50 mix of 100/93 which gives me around 96-97--I am able to run 29 degrees total timing and more if I use the straight 100 (I was running up to 32 for a little while) but where I am, the Sunoco 260 is $7.99/gallon!!

this is honda-tech. that kind of advice falls upon deaf ears. because in about 3 posts, someone will come in here and talk about "his homies lsvtec with ctr pistons that is 13.5:1 that runs on pump gas and it beat this one kids camaro so it must be fine"

On Honda Tech tuning makes the motor run perfect and ends world hunger.

Its possible, but i wouldn't reccommend it

I run 13.1:1 on the streets with 94octane and it totally blows *****. My timing sucks and you can't beat on it on the street. When I put in VP104 it runs better but i only get that at the local track.

I should've double checked my calculations first before getting my pistons, I wanted something in the range of 12.0-12.5:1

Now here is an honest post that I can appreciate--I appreciate your honesty and frankness about the reality of crazy compression. I think everyone here would love to run 14:1 if they could get away with it on pump gas, but over a certain point you just wind up with a less reliable motor that makes less power than a similar build running more reasonable compression with more timing. Super compression is hell on bearings and what works and doesn't rattle in a 1/4 mile of full throttle may not work to well going up a steep hill in 3rd gear in 100 degree heat.
