well, i thought i'd start a build thread also. if you dont like that, too bad. most of this is on ef-honda too. i love both these sites.

so, it blew up (my old a6 w/srps/eagles). suspected bad gas at the dragstrip. ran awesome, making over 300 whp/250 wtq for a LONG time. ran low 12's @116-118 mph.

blew up at union grove. i'm basically rebuilding the engine, only a bit better (ported head/coated pistons/newer block/milled a bit more for more compression)

PICS

shooting for 11's next year w/ better drag suspension, a bit of weight reduction, and a bit more power. maybe high 10s. driven to the track. sitting all high (stock suspension) in the front and low in the rear seems to have killed my 60 fts. i'm cutting fenders for the track for next year (junkyard ones) and running the slammed suspension. it would lift and spin for 15 feet with the stock stuff, then hook. 2.0+ 60fts, 12.4@118

now, some carnage photos!

MilkShake anyone???

MilkShake valve cover..

Poor Mister Sleeve.

Poor Mister Piston

now, some new photos!

coated mani, DP, and pistons (had to buy 1 new SRP, and gotta buy new rings)

other plans this winter include
-flared fenders/repainted (at body shop right now, pics in a week or two, whenever he's done)
-repainted "below-headlights/above bumper" trim piece
-engine, of course
-powdercoat the chargepipe, unsure on color (any input? bay is now a sweet grey)

-tons of wires hidden, re-wire everything inside (mostly done already)
-carpet inside probably
-hitch hidden behind liscence plate, just like we did for splitime
-tons of other crap

pics of the recently painted bay, and my vaccum log hidden behind the firewall

Love the color in the bay

What purpose does the coating on your mani/dp serve? Is it just like heat wrapping it?

yup, it'll work better though, and look nicer than my manifold all wrapped up crappy-like. heat wrap falls aprt too. i hate that.

Sweet vac log placement. There definitely is a ton of room in there once you take off the plastic cover.

cleaning/notching the new block tommorrow sometimes, if it stops raining here in chicago.

gotta get a sandblasting cabinet! i hate having to do it in the backyard. shooting the block with Garnet, should give it a glass-bead style finish. looking forward to it.

I have seen you run at GLD, looks good.

If it's any consolation, it's not the only car that has developed 'problems' from GLD gas. My old supra nearly got f*cked by a bad batch there in 2004, luckily I checked my plugs after my first pass and backed down the boost and timing. She was pinging pretty bad

nah. picked up 2-3 mph on average with that being the only mod (back when it was an NA dohc zc w/ cams)

it was only in the 90-some mph range then. now its in the 120 mph range. its doing something.

i dont mind how it looks either! hehe.

i know, i did the same thing to my 'stock' n/a B16 ef hatch back in the day.... which helped me get a best of 13.4 in the 1/4 with that pos.

but still....... if that car was all "stock" looking, i would love 100% of it.
