Suggestions on more power/tourque from the SOHC crowd!!! Help a fellow sohc owner.
This is my set up.CRX Si with D16Z6 and Si transmission.I have a comp cam 59100,cai,header and stainless exhaust. What I'm wondering is where to go to next in order to squeeze more power out of my set up.I don't want turbo or supercharger.I want to keep it all motor.
Will a lightened flywheel and new internals in the block help out?? If so what do you suggest?? Also what can be done to the tranny as far as gearing is concerned?? I'm fairly new to the Honda scene but hooked and here to stay.So I'm open to any and all suggestions as I'm far from a master mechanic. Thanks guys.
I hear Eagle makes good product so maybe some pistons/maybe not, gimme some sugestions!!

all motor sohc with power while still running on pump gas is a hard one..How much actuall power are you trying to make? what sort of 1/4 mile times are you looking for? and what is your budget?
a lightened flywheel doesnt really give more power, maybe 1whp? but the revs go up and down faster..

I'm not looking for 200 horses but 170 would be nice.Would swapping out the internals in my block help?? What about tranny gearing anything I can do there??

check this for the tranny http://effinmotorworks.com/Eff...s.htm
170whp all motor is going to be tough..I mean its been done but i doubt it's streetable and its going to be alot of money.. Just curious why don't you want turbo? cause you can eaisly have a turbo kit, tuning, and make +200whp with around $1000-$1500

170 all motor from a SOHC is a challenge. Is there any reason for not wanting to go with forced induction? You will most definitely need higher compression pistons to see some sort of significant gain.

I've never really dealy with turbo.I think it just kills your engine faster than if it was kept natually aspirated.I just think so many things can go wrong with a turbo set up.

If done right, a turbocharged motor can last just as long, if not longer than a high compression naturally aspirated set up. Besides nitrous, boost is the best bang for the buck. You should look into to dispell whatever rumors or myths you may have about turbocharging. In this day and age, turbocharging can be done very easily and inexpensively.

What are some things I should look for in a turbo set up then?? Are the cheap ones on ebay good?? Should I lean towards putting money into the actual turbo or piping?? Gimme some starters and maybe I might go turbo. This is a great site!!!

you may want to upgrade the clutch,,Get a stage1 for around 200whp..there's nothing you have to worry about the engine and tranny can handle turbo no problem just make sure its tuned good.

If I do decide to go Turbo after everything is hooked up I will definately take it somewhere reputable to be tuned.
