toyomatt84's BUILD THREAD

Year 1: (See Below)

Year 2 (Click for link)

Year 1:
Yeah, this is how it all started. It's almost hard to look at these days, but everyone starts somewhere.

It stayed this way for quite a while, whilst I gathered funds up again from buying the vehicle. Unfortunately, my first real modification wasn't one I wanted to do. Coming home from a friend's house, I ran straight into a killer hail storm. It was unavoidable, as I was in the middle of no where, and there was nothing to hide under. So, my car ended up with $3,800 damage due to hail. And, thus, killed my hopes for a swap that year.

Here's some shots of the car, after I had it repaired:

New OEM Hood.

New OEM Glass.

New OEM Trunk lid.

Repainted roof (hail actually chipped paint, so they did traditional body repair).

Overview (very happy with the turnout).

-

In the fall of my first year of owning the car:

-

Before the year ended, I managed to afford my first set of aftermarket wheels, and thus kick off an addiction that still consumes me today. (Although, it's slightly less self-destructive then drinking or smoking. )

-

I also managed to get some coilovers (Function and Form Type 1's), which at the time we're great, but ended up being WAY more pain than they're worth.

UH OH!!! A picture of toyo got leaked.

You work hard enough at being good at something, and you reap the benefits. I'm a Network Engineer, and it took a couple years of having absolutely no personal life to get where I'm at. I'll be forking over the personal life again pretty soon, to get my CCIE certification. It'll be worth it in the long run, though.

Nice pictures, and a whole lot! I kinda miss my EF, but oh well. Any plans for the EF? Maybe a MPFI swap for better fuel efficiency? What about the coupe?

The coupe will undergo a few suspension modifications and minor engine work, plus a few things I will choose not to disclose, before Import Alliance. But, after that, I won't be at Import Alliance '09 for a reason. Import Alliance '10 will be it's "grand re-opening" for a lack of a better term. A TON of stuff will be put into effect during that two year period.

The EF (or more accurately ED6), will probably see an engine swap (deciding between a JDM D15, D16, or OBD0 B16), with a low gearing transmission to bring out the best in fuel mileage for it's daily driven status. If I get the time this summer, it will get a paint job, to prevent any future rusting (there's nearly no rust right now, and I'd like to prolong that). Other than that, 2 sets of wheels max, an OEM-style stereo replacement, and re-upholstery are all that I can think of for it. It's going to stay minimal in the modifications list for now, as I'd rather focus my attention on the coupe.

Almost 3 years, yeah.

But, that'll never happen. I prefer the K24 to be in the car I'd rather be driving. And, actually the K24 didn't do anything to the ride height. The blown struts and change of wheels did.

I'm using an RSX-S transmission, but I'm building a new transmission using the TSX 1-6th gears, bud. Sorry.

PS. You can't run a TSX transmission in an EM2 without custom mounts. The mounts are different than the K20's.

Which ones? You'll need to be much more specific on that, seeing as I have 8 sets of them.

But, just as a forewarning, the answer is probably no.

Thanks, bud. You planning on coming to Import Alliance. I'd love to see a ton of the EM2 owners lined up for some cool photos. Plus, meeting with the people you converse with online is never a bad time.
