MFactory Close Ratio Gear Sets - Proven 21% Increase In Performance!« » Reply  Edit

   Hello Honda-Tech,

Achieve the ultimate in acceleration with the MFactory Close Ratio Gears. Diamond Cut to exacting tolerances from fully Carburized Forged Nickel-Chromoly Steel and put through our own proprietary heat treatment process, you will not find a stronger, more reliable product on the market. Our special treatment process makes our gears several times stronger than OEM Gears and are specifically designed to endure the demanding requirements of high-power track/drag cars.

For those who were interested in the Gear Sets but were not too sure on what sort of performance gains they would achieve, or were wanting to wait till the gears were tested and reviewed for performance and quality, you will be very pleased to hear the following results from the independent tests made on our Close Ratio Gear Sets. The results are via the UK's Leading Independent Honda Club & Magazine, and were subject to both Mettalurgic Analysis and Live Testing:

///////////// From the Magazine Review //////////////////

Vehicle: B16 Civic
3rd Gear 40-70mph: 22.7% Improvement over stock
4th Gear 40-70mph: 23.3% Improvement over stock
5th Gear 40-70mph: 16.7% Improvement over stock
Average Improvement: 21% Improvement over stock on 3rd/4th/5th Gears
Tolerance: All within Honda Specifications
Quality: As Good/Similar to OEM Honda Gears
Results: Much smoother shifting between gears, much improved (and immediately noticeable) acceleration response

From the above, you can see that you would gain an average 21% Performance Gain throughout 3rd/4th/5th gears.

///////////// End //////////////////

After installing our gears, you will experience a phenomenal increase in acceleration, albeit sacrificing top-end speed. Kit includes 3rd, 4th and 5th gear (perfect for keeping in the VTEC zone).

Specification:
3rd - 1.695
4th - 1.296 or 1.384 (Slight modification required to transmission casing)
5th - 1.000 or 1.130

Price: Only $624.95 shipped for 3rd & 4th Gear, $749.95 shipped for 3rd, 4th and 1.000 5th (extra $50 for 1.130 5th)

This has got to be one of the best, if not the best, "bang for buck" modifications out there. There are not a lot of modifications out there that will give you 21% increase in performance for less than US$750.

We also have a B-Series 3.070 1st Gear available for those who require a slightly longer 1st, specifically designed for hard launches. As used by several top NHRA SFWD contenders, providing a consistent 0.2sec reduction in 60ft times and proven to withstand 750+ horsepower! Price: Only $249.95 shipped!

For those with D15/16 Motors, you are not left out. We also have a Close Ratio Gear Set for your box as well:

Specification:
3rd - 1.565
4th - 1.250 (Stock 3rd Gear. Slight modification required)
5th - 1.000 (Slight modification required to transmission casing)

Price: Only $624.95 shipped!

For the Ultimate in "bang for buck" performance gains, install our Close Ratio Gear Sets along with our range of Final Drive Gears. Nowhere else will you be able to find a performance modification offering such a staggering increase in performance for $1300! Not to mention any strict modification/emissions requirements in place by your local authority.

Like our Close Gears, the MFactory range of Final Drive Gears are Diamond Cut to exacting tolerances from fully Carburized Forged Nickel-Chromoly Steel and put through our own proprietary heat treatment process. Put simply, you will not find a stronger, more reliable product on the market.

By changing your final gear ratios, you can experience a dramatic increase in acceleration throughout the rev-range, giving you upto 15% increase in torque at any given speed over the OEM Final Drive.

We have two series available for Honda/Acura, depending on your application:

Street - Our most popular product, the Street Series are perfect for the "Everyday Driver", yet also suitable for the amateur track/drag enthusiast, being over 30% stronger than the OEM Final Drive. As used on the MFactory Sponsored McKinney Raceworks Prelude, competing in the NASA Honda Challenge series.

Pro - Specifically for Competition-Use Only. As the name suggests, the Pro Series are for those who are more serious about their racing and will give you that advantage you need to win over the competition. Forged from Grade 1 quality steel and put through our own proprietary heat treatment process, the Pro Series are several times stronger than our Street Series range and are specifically designed to endure the demanding requirements of high-power track/drag cars.

A lot of people have asked us for a base example of what to expect when fitting our products, so here you are. This is based on a stock B16A2 with S4C Box (8500rpm limit, stock gear ratios, stock 4.4 FD). Note that top speed is high as this does not include Aerodynamic Drag as a factor. All speeds are Approximate but gives you a good example:

1st: 40mph
2nd: 62mph
3rd: 90mph
4th: 118mph
5th: 154mph

With 4.05 Final Drive:
1st: 44mph
2nd: 67mph
3rd: 97mph
4th: 128mph
5th: 167mph

With 4.785 Final Drive:
1st: 37mph
2nd: 57mph
3rd: 82mph
4th: 108mph
5th: 142mph

With 4.928 Final Drive:
1st: 36mph
2nd: 55mph
3rd: 80mph
4th: 105mph
5th: 137mph

With Close Ratio Gear Set:
1st: 40mph
2nd: 62mph
3rd: 77mph
4th: 94mph
5th: 131mph

With Close Ratio Gear Set + 4.05 Final Drive:
1st: 44mph
2nd: 67mph
3rd: 84mph
4th: 102mph
5th: 142mph

With Close Ratio Gear Set + 4.785 Final Drive:
1st: 37mph
2nd: 57mph
3rd: 71mph
4th: 87mph
5th: 120mph

With Close Ratio Gear Set + 4.928 Final Drive:
1st: 36mph
2nd: 55mph
3rd: 69mph
4th: 84mph
5th: 117mph

Another review from one of our happy customers:

Vehicle: Mildly modified UK CRX Del Sol Vti (B16) with 4.4 Final Drive
3rd Gear 40-70mph: 20.3% Improvement
4th Gear 40-70mph: 17.5% Improvement
5th Gear 40-70mph: 17.6% Improvement
Average Improvement: 18.5% Improvement over 3rd/4th/5th Gears
Comments: "After fitting the gears into my car, I went for my first drive and there seemed to be an invisible thread pulling the corners of my mouth as on shifting into third, I couldn't suppress a grin - then shifting to forth, I started to giggle"

On the F22/H22 trannies do you have to modify or buy anything to make the final drives fit? Also have you tested this final drive set to see what mph gains are over stock F22/h22 trannies?
Thanks

foumer: Nope, the H22A FD's fit straight on, no modifications required

You will not gain mph after fitting the H22A FD as the 4.64 will bring your gear ratios closer (i.e You will lose top speed). Unlike the B-Series, we do not currently have a longer FD for the H22A.

UPDATE

We are proud to announce the release of our longer 1st Gear for B-Series transmissions with a 3.077 ratio.

The 1st gear will work with the stock shaft - Our uprated shaft is not required to install.

If installed along with our 3rd/4th/5th Gear Set (Stock 2nd can be reused), this will give you a True 1st-5th Close Ratio Gear Setup

very very intresting... VERY intresting.. can we see a movie of these in action, compared to stock, how much of a diffrence it is ?

i know the ratio is small, but i can't really wrap my head around it. I think sales would go up if our little civics where blasting threw the gear box like a hooker doing a rail of coke.

VIDEO PLEASE !!!

For those that are interested in the RPM differences between the gears. MPH difference is helpful, but RPM difference is the other part of the equation.

Taken from my transmission page (http://thebense.livejournal.com/56502.html)

LS transmission
1.900 / 3.230 = 0.58824 or 58.824%
1.269 / 1.900 = 0.66789 or 66.789%
0.966 / 1.269 = 0.76123 or 76.123%
0.714 / 0.966 = 0.73913 or 73.913%

GSR transmission
1.900 / 3.230 = 0.58824 or 58.824%
1.360 / 1.900 = 0.71579 or 71.578%
1.034 / 1.360 = 0.76029 or 76.029%
0.787 / 1.034 = 0.76112 or 76.112%

B16/USDM ITR tranny

1.107 / 1.458 = 0.75926 or 75.926%
0.848 / 1.107 = 0.76603 or 76.603%

JDM ITR transmission
