Here are some questions we see pop up frequently from time to time. Hopefully this will encourage people to ask more detailed questions rather than some of these bland general questions. It also should give people new to the game a bit better understanding of what things are and how they work. I would also advise everyone to check out

- Learn How Everything Works! and read up on turbochargers, as there is some excellent beginners information there that will at least allow you to understand some of the jargon we use here.

This is going to be a community FAQ. Im getting it started with a few, and encourage everyone to take a little time and post links to information they feel would be valuable in here. Sick of seeing people posting "how much power does xxx make"? Find the answer or write something up and PM a link or writeup it to me, or just post it here. I will check this post periodically and arrange your posts for quick reference.

This is for all the threads I see each day about overheating! If your car is over heating the #1 cause is air in the system.

If you have recently drained and refilled the system then this is almost certainly the answer. Some cars have bleeder valves located near the upper coolant line going into the head. Fill the radiator until coolant starts to pour out of the open bleeder then tighten it up. Cars without this bleeder valve can pull the radiator cap off and warm the car up until coolant reaches the very top of the radiator neck. In either case I le to re bleed the system again after a few miles to make sure the entire system is fully circulated. Some tips include leaving the cabin heater on full to allow full coolant circulation and filling the overfill bottle to its "max" level in-case the system needs to draw in more coolant. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=140774

Other common causes are a bad thermostat, radiator fan isn't kicking on or is inadequate. And in the most extreme case, a bad head gasket will cause overheating as super hot combustion chamber gases are super heating the coolant.
