I love the work you've been doing! I've been looking at your progress since page 23 but never said anything since. Only reason i come to this site is to look at your thread. I'm doing some bodywork as well.. not as intense as you since its my dd of course. I never did auto bodywork.. but when my parents told me not too.. n one of our friend's who used to work as a painter (autobody work basically) told me it wasn't worth it because i probably would mess it up.. well i did anyways and surprised even him. Check it out in my sig cardomain sometime.
Keep up the great work.. don't lose hope even though I'm certain you won't come close to losing it :D

probably because now it acts as a frame brace and no longer as a suspension brace. Strut tower bars are tied directly to the upper strut bolts for the direct reason that they keep the struts aligned in a turn...not the frame. Even though minut', the fact that the bar isnt directly absorbing the stress from the struts means that they "can" deflect somewhat in heavy cornering, etc.

I see what you're saying, and it would apply in the case of a true strut, where the top of the strut carries some of the horizontal force from cornering. This uses a double A-arm suspension, so the force applied by the "strut", or actually coil-over in this case, is mostly vertical from the spring load. Some of the horizontal force applied by the spring and upper control arm (uca) are transferred to the opposite tower by the tower brace, which provides additional support to the uca mounting points. As you can see, I have some "packaging" issues not present under a stock Prelude hood, which pretty much dictated where the bar could be routed from one side to the other. I tried to make it as straight as I could and leave room for engine movement.

Thanks for your input
Dave

I know this has probably been covered in the 40+ pages of this post. But what are your plans with the engine? Are you keeping it stock, or doing a mild build, full on all engine build.... etc... This is sweet stuff man, keep it up.

The engine will be stock, unless I run across an interesting sponsor that wants to "kick it up a knotch"!

Thanks,
Dave

yeah, I figured that's why you did it the way you did...not to mention all of the modifications you did to get a front end in the BACK of a car which probably completely changed the suspension dynamics of the struts...

I was just stating what I assumed is what the other guy was thinking...without him really thinking of the fact that those struts are now setup completely different from their original form/function

So what does the under hood compartment look like? will it be like a trunk for storage? or just a big hole?
