Default Get Hondata + injectors then install turbo later??

Is this possible to do? Have a Hondata system installed with 440cc injectors, fuel pump, 1:1 FPR with no turbo, then drive it home and install the turbo afterwards? Has anyone done this? I do not want to install the turbo, with stock injectors and no VAFC and drive it to Troy, MI(3hrs) to have Hondata installed. See my concern? Ok, thanks for any replies.

only problem will be is that once you install the turbo you will have to go back to get it tuned..

Well that is a very small problem really. Hondata base maps are so good that OFTEN times even when the car is tuned, the variation from a base map is so small that it makes little difference. I think I will run the car on base maps until I find that it needs further tuning.

Yea, but the difference between the WOT maps w/ turbo and w/o will be large!

I dont think hondata uses a WOT map.. I think it adjusts fuel according to how much boost it sees and how much throttle is applied.. So I would assume that when there is no boost being read that it would just not deliver as much fuel..

Correct. the computer reads the MAP voltage (boost) , retards the ignition and adds the fuel as necessary, so the system will work NA perfectly if setup for 440s.

Doug, thanks for the answer. I thought this was how it worked. I will be going to get the system installed then going home with it to install the turbocharger.

Doug: I asked this on the TOO board but got no answer.

With a Hondata, for a NA application, can non WOT be tunes as well as idle?
Im using big cams which like lots of fuel, but when Im just cruising or idling...it runs WAY rich.

There are 10 load columns (Map sensor voltage) by 20 RPM positions tuneable for each cam. So yes it can be tuned easily for part throttle. It needs a tuner with a wide band lambda meter. It is preferably done on the road.

Hondata is the best, IMHO.

Can you install your turbo but not boost, and then install the injectors when you get your car tuned? I'm in the same kind of situation too, id like to get hondata as well but i have a huge drive.

When you purchase the Hondata system your dealer can set it up for stock injectors or larger (typically 440 cc) injectors . In effect they would write two chips for you would match the chips with the injectors.

It does not matter if the turbo is not installed at the time, or if your wastegate is set to 0 lb boost with the turbo installed.

When I said that There are 10 load columns (Map sensor voltage) by 20 RPM positions tuneable for each cam. That was for NA. With a 3 bar map sensor connected, there are 16 by 20 tuning points for each cam and the same for ignition. A total of 640 fuel and a further 640 ignition tuning points. A little more than most piggyback systems.

Doug
