depends on what tranny you have in there now. if you have a dx-cx-lx transmission you're gonna benefit with the ex/ si tranny. you can send me an IM if you have IM and let me know what tranny you're using now.

Default Power Steering Pump Does not line up

Thanks for the mad write up about building a Mini Me. I just done my own Mini Me for my 95 Civic Sedan. I had a D16Z6 from a donor car that was in a accident. That ran well for about 4-5 Years. Then I spuna bearing on the D16Z6. In the mean time, I had to buy my brother a engine for his 90 civic sedan (D15B2). So I decided to build a Mini Me instead of buying another D16Z6. Long story short. Built it, dropped it in, and now I have this problem with the power steering pump not lining up with the crank. I have it off right now so it wont leak anymore. And whenever I have the car running for awhile, it turns on the oil light. If anyone got any ideas on these two problems, please let me know. I love my power steering, since it is in there and would like to continue to use it. There was a bunch of other things I ran into while putting the engine in the car. But I got around it. Mahalo!

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead I was searching the FAQ section, and I want to eventually do the mini-me swap on my DD CRX, but it has an automatic tranny which I want to keep.

Has anybody done the mini-me swap on an auto, and is it worth it powerwise?

It will work just the same, the tranny is seperate from the engine. But you'll have difficulty finding an Auto ECU that will control VTEC. I dunno if there even is one...

Hey everyone, i'm a n4wb to the forum here, so I can't IM anyone or else I would.

What I have:
-1989 Civic HB 5-speed MTX that needs to pass safety.
-I work part time in an engine rebuilding shop that my uncle runs but doesn't own.
-An income of $150-200/week of which I can dedicate at least 1/2 to my car.
-The ability to get help from my uncle and my buddy to help me with my mini-me swap.
-The ability to use the shop I work at for a place to do the swap, and at the same time having every tool I need to get the job done.

What I'm having problems with:
-The fact that my insuance company says that my car is a 1.6L but under my hood it clearly says 1.5L.
-Figuring out what engine is in my car (D15b1 or D15b2)
-Not knowing much about the car itself.
-Not knowing some of the abbreviations used in the forums.
-Pretty much anything to do w/ electrical...i'm slightly nervous of how difficult it will
be to get vtec working once I do my swap.

Plans(oh finally the good stuff):
-Get the car safety passed (easy, hopefully soon)
-Do some body work (easy, whenever I have time)
-Random odds and ends for interior. (Pick n' Pull this weekend is 50% off)
-Swap my current head w/ a D16Z6 head.

So i've really only been studying into this mod for a couple days but i'm pumped to do it. Really i'm not too worried about budget...I just want to keep it under $1000 but at the same time, the cheaper, the faster it will get done. I'm worried about compatability though.

N4wb Questions:
**How do I know if my engine is a D15b1 or a D15b2...?
**will a P28 ECU be compatable for my application? Where is the ECU located?
-OBD...stands for what, and do I need to be concerned about it?
-Dizzy... means?
-D16Z6 Timing belt works for my application, correct?
-Is there anything that I should know about when it comes time for the swap, that has to do with compatability diffrences between my 89 civic and the one discribed in the guide?

I have a minime setup right now not presently in my crx, it's a b7 on a d16z6 head similar to yours. I was wondering... is there a site where they sell obd0 to obd1 harness?

Just to help you out virtuoso to answer your questions

1. You should be able to find out if its a b1 or b2 by simply looking at the engine below where the head is more toward the left you'll see an engine code... it'll tell you right there.
2. p28 ecu is compatible
3. Dizzy is distributor
4. That is the most prefered timing belt for your applicaton
5. You'll need an obd0 to obd1 harness, obd1 distributor, that's what I know for now

okay question because now i am confused....i know that this is a b7 w/a z6 head mini-me thread but, i am wanting a little more info on a 90 honda civic std. d15b1 mini-me swap...

i have been reading and reading and reading and searching on this matter. i want to use the z6 head but i am confused as to what i need to have in order to make this work....

this is what i would like to do....
please do tell me what will work and what won't work..
this is my first mini-me swap....

-d15b1 block
-full d16z6 head...intake manifold, fule rail, injectors (dizzy??? what kind???)
-new arp head studs...
-all new gaskets...(head gastket, throttle body gasket, intake manifold gasket...)

-wiring harness----what kind of wiring harness??? do i use my stock harness???
i know i will need the resitor box, that's about it....i'm not too sure how to wire up vtec or the other injectors but, am still reading up a little closer on that...shouldn't be a prob though..

-p28 ecu
-z6 timing belt????
-z6 water pump???

am i missing anything?
and again if i have any thing wrong please help me out. i wanna do this right and am just not too sure!!!
