Default S2000 seat install into civic with pics done properly. Very long, not 56k friendly. PICS FIXED!!

Wasup guys, well i got really bored tonight and decided to figure out how to put my s2000 seats in my car with all 4 bolt holes lining up. Heres the story, i've had my s2000 seats for about 6 months. In the s2000(car), the seats mount flat to the floor, so in order to mount them in a civic, most people bend the front two tabs and then 3 bolt holes line up. You can NOT just swap rails with these seats like with sol or teg seats do to the nature of the brackets and seat bottom but i found a way to do it. Now these seats are the nicest seats i have had, gone through a set of del sols previously but i am a perfectionist and it annoyed the hell out of me that i had only 3 bolts in. Most people didn't notice but the seat would slightly wobble when you got in. So, with a boring night at home, very tired, and not feeling like going out, this is what i did.

here is a pic of the back of the seat where it mounts, notice the outer left mounting tab and how it just hangs there.

here is a pic of the seats fully reclined forward, really sucks
ass, due to the fact that they were designed for a roadster, they don't go forward or very far back, making it impossible for passengers to get in your car.

So my journey begins, you can not swap brackets, so i went to see if you could swap the entire hing over, no dice. here is why. the civic seat brackets mount to the side of the seat bottom

Wheras the s2k seat bracket mount crap mounts to the bottom of the seat bottom

So after a bit of scratching the head, i discovered that honda uses the exact same seat bottoms for it's seats with just different mounting points. so i proceded to take my s2k seat apart along with a junk civic seat.

Then you have to remove the hog rings from the seat bottoms to remove the metal seat bottom. After that you can swap the metal seat bottoms, here is a side by side comparison of the civic seat bottom and s2k seat bottom
(civic=left,s2k=right) if you notice, minus a few holes the only difference between the two seat bottoms is toward the outer top left and right. The s2k has a bolt sticking up and the civic has a round tube thingy welded instead.

here is another pic to show, civic top, s2k bottom

reinstall the seat bottom and hog rings and such.

now you will have to remove the entire hinging assembly. basically you have to kinda peel the leather up on the seat back until you can get to the two bolts hidden under the leather, there will be one hog ring you need to take out in the front part of the seat under the main cushion to make this easier.

After that, swap out the hinging assembly and the other seat rail and put everything back together and you should be set. here is a pic of the civic hing bracket crap installed, s2k hing crap thinging infront for comparison.

now your seat will be able to fully recline just like your stock seats and all bolt holes will line up. here is a pic of the passenger seat fully reclined forward after doing this and the driver side fully reclined forward untouched. Notice the big difference?

All in all, it took a while to do, wasn't too bad just damn time consuming. Well worth it cause the car is now functional again, it was impossible for anyone to get into the back and all of the holes are bolted in. hope this helps anyone that was wondering how to bolt your s2k seats in. Only con to doing this is, it raises your seat up a little bit but s2k seats are super low so i think i am right around del sol seat height now so it is ok. later

OMFG! that's awesome! the pics illustrate the process very well, and the write-up is excellent. Makes me want to go out and get some S2K seats now -- which i've been wanting forever but i lack the cash. Good stuff, man! they look right at home in your civic.

thanks guys. I really don't even know how long it took. I was only able to do the passenger seat cause the driver civic seat has that damn adjustment crap knobs on the side and i can't use it. I don't think it took more than 45 min to an hour but i was on the phone, and watching tv and eating so who knows.
