P2R B-Spec Honda Fit

P2R B-Spec Honda Fit
So we decided to get a head start on setting up a car for the new B-Spec race class. We picked up a 2010 Honda Fit 5 speed Base Model. Here are two pictures of the car.
Here is the baseline dyno of the car. Since there are no rulebooks out for the car. We are going to leave the engine completely stock until we find out some more information. We did 3 pulls, but all of them came up with the exact same HP & TQ numbers. These pulls were done in 3rd gear.
We are going to start to strip the interior tomorrow, and will post up pictures as we go along. Should be getting started on roll cage in about a week. Hopefully we can have car ready to do a local race towards the end of April.

It's cool that you guys are getting are car together for this series. But the problem is there are no rules (which I think should be out soon???), so its hard to build a car to a set of rules for a spec series when there are none yet. Also, the schedule has yet to be determined. Anyone know if it's going to be a national series or a regional series? I would imagine the car count would be very low if it were to be a regional series, especially in its infancy stages. Nonetheless, i can't wait to see how this series is going to develop as with the cars of the series.

Saw one of the mazda 2's out at an autox last weekend. The car had good wheels and tires and some suspension tuning and it handled amazing!
I love these classes like spec miata with lower power and good handling, makes for really fun racing.

Re: P2R B-Spec Honda Fit
Awesome thread, please keep us updated. One thing I would like to know is how the rules account for the lack of rear sway bar in the base Fit compared to the 17 mm one in the Sport. It isn't easily added or removed as it is welded onto the torsion bar assembly.
The aluminum front control arms from the CR-Z could be an interesting addition if the rules don't mention anything about it. It should be a direct swap as the underlying platform is shared.

nice!...seen this car in person was originally running 1:59s @ homestead and they improved to 1:57s from one event to the next...good job Sean gaining 2 seconds is not an easy task in that car...with competition tires and some minor suspension tuning and some more experience low 1:50s shouldnt be difficult that would be running with the spec miatas

Here is a little bit of footage from a practice session in Sebring. Might be best to jump to about 2 minutes into the video. FIrst minute or so, was driving really slow

Car is on Falken Azenis unfortunately, so you will see that the tires dot help to much on allowing me to run any decent lap times. Car ran a 2:55.010

Finally got some good tires for the car (Thanks to BFGoodrich & Honda Racing) and going to be racing it on August 20, 2011 in Homestead Miami Speedway with FARA.

Pretty cool man. I'm thinking of getting a Fit or 2 and going B-spec.
What cars are you racing against with NASA? Hope to see you at Homestead soon.
