Daily driven 300whp car into track car build SOHC
well ive been lurking on here for years now. and decided to share my build thread here too. this is not my normal forum but since i lurk i mine as well show everyone what im working with.
well first il start with telling you a little about the car with the setup that was on it for a little over a year.
was just a budget built vitara d16 with stock head and ebay turbo. including the tune there was less then $2500 in the build. it was daily driven everyday rain sleet or snow here in iowa.
on the dyno the car made 265whp on 16psi. and at the end of its time it was at 24psi with unknown whp. 300whp is my guess. got taken to the track a few times when i could. best time was
11.9 @117mph 1.9 60ft on barrowed slicks and trans with lsd
here is a video of the fastest run that was caught on tape. hitting boost cut in 4th
12.1@110mph 1.7 60ft http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_fa9Wh8By0
now il tell you about the plans for the car now and some of the parts lists.
the plans for the car since i now have another stock 96 civic for a DD
my goal last year was 11's this year the goal is getting into the 10's.
everything is getting upgraded except the block. im sticking with the same fj distributors H beams with vitaras. 25k on them.
parts list that i already have include
fully P&P head, crower springs S2 retainers stock valves
comp 59500 cam edelbrock cam gear
SLS topmount manifold
precision PTE 6262 turbo with ported s cover (non billet wheel)
bosch 1600cc injectors. il be running E85
Go-Autoworks backdoor FMIC
bosch 044 inline pump
omni 70mm TB
parts that are ordered but still waiting for from greg at www.go-autoworks.com
golden eagle intake manifold
inline fuel filter
Go-autoworks catchcan
fuel system including rail aeromotive regulator all lines and fittings
parts that are still needed
lsd
drag suspension
wheels and slicks.
now here are some pics of the car and the current work on it
taking the cage out of the car to redo it to meet regulations
the hoop after is was cleaned up
picture of the turbo. got this used from greg at go-autoworks but in mint condition
the head after assembly
manifold
i have the head installed and mocked the fmic turbo and manifold
i had a different intake manifold a performer x but have decided toget bigger and better so it has been sold.
picture of the seat cover for the new kirkey seat
the car still needs some work. it sits now with no interior or cage. i have been waiting for my order from greg so i can have the car able to start. then it can get driven to a shop and we can get the cage in. then after i get a trans it can get tuned. the stock diff is missing teeth so i dont think that would make it through the tuning session.
the whp goal for the car is 450-500whp but im not really worried about what power it makes just want to run good times at the track.
let me know what everyone thinks and any questions that you may have

well tonight i worked on the car for a whopping 20 min.

and already got the exhaust fabbed up just need to put the flange on it and cut up the hood.
spent a but load on a few fittings today at the hydrolic store
so heres a few pics
feed line on
go-autoworks drain back fitting with 10an

alright its now time for some pictures.
picture of the new fuel line and fitting in the tank. if you need this Greg at go-autoworks has there.
also got a sweet package from greg yesterday. my fuel setup and fittings.
the tabs i fabbed up this morning on the seat bracket.
my exhaust/ up pipe. still need to trim it down after the hole is in the hood
also weled another tab for the harness since the bracket came with one on the other side
repainted the bracket flat black
this is how the seat looks mounted
and best of all this came in the mail today from greg

debating on installing a stock throttle cable holder or buying a GE universal on.
greg told me how to do the stock one on there. but idk if i feel comfortable drilling and tapping into it.

Yeah me and bens green coupe should be running the midwest ifo or wisconsin's import wars, still undecided which is scary because the first ifo is this sunday in wichita. Hopefully we will be at a couple mayhems this year. You still got this week to get yours ready for wichita - hehe

Looks like you are mounting your kirkey the same height as us, do you think it feels too low at all. We where both thinking it felt a little low but kind of like it at the same time.

looks good. So your using the push-loc hose straight from your fuel tank to the bay? Just curious, because of the heat from the exhaust and such.
