Not a whole lot of tech in here yet, but I think this is the best place to put this.

I've been looking to upgrade from my JDM ITR header since I freshened up the B20 that's in my car now. My Civic is my daily driver and I could never get around with any of the RMF/Hytech replica headers that have terrible ground clearance.

The JDM ITR has been perfect for clearance/performance/sound in my Civic but I had a little money to burn and time to kill so I shopped around for something new.

I've used the SPFab Toda replica header and was pleased with the performance, but the leaky slip fit collectors are a huge disappointment. Phil has started making them with the slip fit collectors welded, and offered them to me for $500 shipped.

Earlier this week, I stumbled upon Tegiwa Imports thread in the sponsor section where they are selling a Toda replica header that is similar to the SPFab replica, but made with stainless and without slip fit collectors. They are selling them for $590 shipped.

I contacted Tegiwa Imports and they offered me a discount in exchange for a review of their header. This was enough to get me to try it out .

I hope to hit up ProFunction's dyno in a couple weeks when classes aren't so hectic.
All I have to offer as of yet is my experience with Tegiwa Imports and my initial impressions of their 4-2-1 header.

Shipping/Customer Service
I dealt with Johnny from Tegiwa Imports who politely answered my questions about the header, and sent me additional pics when I requested. from me.

I paid for the header Monday evening 10/25/10. Johnny shipped it out the next day, 10/26. I received the header today via UPS 10/28. SUPER FAST shipping! These guys are in England and got it to me in 2 days!

But I guess speed comes at a cost. The box had a few battle scars from its trip from the UK. The header was wrapped in a plastic bag and thrown in a cardboard box without packaging. This is a $500+ item and I was hoping it would of been packed with a little more care. After close inspection of the header, there was no damage.









I unpacked it and wiped it down and gave it a good once over. Everything looked to be in its place, so I snapped some pics for everyone to judge for themselves.

Time to put it on. I took some pics of my dusty, rusty, but trusty ITR header, sad to see it go .

I was surprised, the clearance was better than the SPFab header I had previously had. Tucks up nicely and lined up perfectly with my exhaust.

Overall

I hooked up the laptop and took it around town. The AFR's needed some more fuel added, indicative of a little power (I hope ). Hopefully I can get to ProFunction in the next couple of weeks.

I would definitely recommend Tegiwa Imports as their service and shipping were excellent.

I hope you're reading this Johnny: please pack the header with something other than a plastic bag. I know it's probably more expensive, but better safe than sorry.

Anyway, hopefully some people find this useful if they're contemplating purchasing this header.

and why would you go to the trouble of welding a support braket to the runner but then only tack it to the flange?

Its fully welded, but the support tabs are tacked on for bolt head clearance

Length is the same as a JDM ITR. They have the primary/secondary/collector measurements in their for sale thread.

Looks to be an exact copy of a Toda header so specs are probably the same.

It's fully welded on the other side. The only function of those welds is to hold the flange in place anyway. On my SPFab header, this side had no weld at all. I even have a picture of it still:

I think that is a design feature

they know this header has poor ground clearance, comparing to stock ones.

When your pipe bottom out, there is alotta "moment" at the flange, adding this will reinforce the connection of the flange + pipe

Uh no.

The Toda/Tegiwa has amongst the best ground clearance. In fact it might even be better than the stock 4-2-1.

They put the brackets/braces there for people who don't have stiff enough motor mounts or choose not to run the downpipe bracket. The constant rocking back and forth can cause weakening of the metal and eventual cracking. Think paperclips.

The reason for the gap in the weld is just as Johnny explained; clearance for the flange nut. If the weld went all the away across the brace the nut would not be able to tighten flush on the flange. Even the Toda header has a gap in the weld:
