Default d16y7 y8 swap into zc crx

so i ran across a gal that wrecked her civic and i guess her boyfriend or previous owner told her to keep the engine and trans cuz it was worth something. well anyways the whole setup im about to buy for 200$. its a d16y7 with the y8 intake manifold swap already done and the trans and harness and everything. my current setup is a EDM 91 crx with d16z5 version of the zc which im quite positive the rings are toast and valve stem seals. anyways my question is do you think the zc trans will bolt up to the d16y7 block? i would like to keep the zc trans in there if possible. i read several posts some parts of the clutch may not fit properly but. the reason im considering this is to keep my daily driver while i rebuild the zc engine. any help or advice?

d16z5 is DOHC, but it shouldnt matter as far as i have read since the bottom end is technically d16a6

from what ive been reading on d series . org its pretty much the same thing u just gotta use ur zc axles. because its a bigger spacing. but its a l3 tranny which is what comes in most efs ya know. just its a zc l3 so its geared differently. that is what ive gotten from the site. dont quote me on it 100% but im pretty sure you can. maybe one of the mods can put in there info soon.

yea exactly what i suspected. i guess when i actually go ahead with the swap im going to find out for sure, i was always informed that most if not all d series trans would bolt to d series block, but since this is a little different of course questioning arises. as well as with the clutch setup. prolly have to use the flywheel and clutch from the d16y7 is my guess yea?

i would say yes on that because the clutch is for a sohc not a dohc. but again im not down with zcs. haha ive never owned or worked on one so im not 100% positive.

Hey whats up? I got a DOHC ZC in my 88 hatch, Im terribly poor so I used my 4 speed. When I was doing my research for the swap all D series trannys will work, there might be a few in the newer cars that may not work (dont quote me on that) Im 90% sure that as long as you have the proper clutch for the transmision (88 or 89 have a different # of splines than the rest) it will bolt right upto any D series engine. The ZC uses a 5 speed w/ an intermediate shaft, simular to the B series trannys, and if you use that one you might have to get special axels ?not really sure?
Let one of the "Old Timers" correct me or conferm all of this hearsay

sounds good, this is a 91 edm crx so it should be good then. i just want to try and find out as much info from others cuz, living in germany is hard to get parts from the states fast. if something is messed up and i need a part, 99% of the time i have to order from autozone or something takes about a week and some change to get parts so its alot of waiting. most german stores here dont have alot of supply for hondas. it sucks
