Default The Chronicles of my Sedan

I hesitate to call this a "build thread' because it probably won't be that impressive, nor do I move fast enough to appease the crowds that typically follow these types of projects. I'd rather call it my time line or chronicles, if you will. The idea is for it to be a place for me to post pictures and progress I have made on my sedan, discuss same with fellow EF owners and friends, ask questions and learn some hands-on, DIY stuff.

First, a little bit of history. I come from a family with a passion for Hondas. My first car was a hand-me-down Accord from my aunt and uncle and since then I've had somewhere close to 15 pass through my hands, ranging from every EF body style to the S2000 to the RDX to my Honda mower. This particular EF, I just call it my Sedan, was purchased bone stock in August of 2008. Most would say the progress has been slow and that is fine with me. Unlike much of the Honda community, I've chosen to invest most of my money in my real estate, my 401K and my family, not a 20 year old economy car. I'm just sayin'.

Anyway, on to the pictures. I will start with the early days and update as I find time.

Day 1. She was fairly low mileage and it pretty good shape. Judging from some ancient receipts I found in the car, it has always been in the South so no signs of rust. Try not to be jealous of muh five lug.

Normally i wouldn't do this but... if you were going for "Chronicles" you forgot the R in your title. only say that because everything else you do seems thorough.

in for updates! i'm curious as to what you're replacing your d with.

oh and thanks again for the bumper!

I work in law, I have to be very detail oriented. It spills over into the rest of my life. Case in point, my brother sent out 100+ invitations to his wedding and I was the only nerd that told him there was three L's in his last name, rather than two.

Mods began with some EF9 sideskirts I had laying around from an old project, as well as some Spoon replica mirrors. The sideskirts are a direct bolt on for the sedan, which is interesting to me, but the mirrors required some custom holes to be drilled since they were designed for the CRX.

...and I removed the old stickers and bumper sticker residue from the back. It made quite a bit of a difference. Gotta love that stock exhaust.

Thanks for the OBD1 harness, Ryan. More on that later...

Soo clean. Since I have never really looked at the OEM side skirts, are they actually removable, or did you just put the EF9 ones over them?

nice and clean car to start on. i feel the same way as you do about not pouring all of your funds into a 20some year old econo car, even though it sure is hard to resist it sometimes.
i would like to see your obd0-1 conversoin as you do it ive been thinking of doing that to my rex so i can used an ecu with hondata. there isnt much to choose from when running obd0
good luck with the car!

The US sedans don't have side skirts. They are just EF9 strait on there.

I'd kill for your car. If that were mine, a jdm d15b 3 stage vtec would be under the hood for sure. Can't wait to see what happens.

Next, I added a DA front lip, cut to size and some Fit wheels...

...then removed the purple, bubbly tint...

...then some Sprint lowering springs and smoked vinyl for the corner lights.

One of the FEW cars that I've liked since the start. Tastefully done upgrade after upgrade. I approve of this.

I want to use this thread as a platform to thank some friends of mine. Without the help of Chris (whiteslipswithstickers), Justin, Cameron, Zach and my brother I wouldn't be able to get anything done. So a huge thank you to you guys for sacrificing many, many long hours in my garage. Especially you, Chris, because you have literally put blood and sweat into this car. Also a huge thanks to Adam (redzcstandardhatch) for the help with the motor, Ryan for the aforementioned harness and Adam from Weaksauce for continually hooking me up on part after part.

The front end of this car is one of my favorite things about it. Apparently, none of it has ever been removed so the fitment is all OEM. If I can help it, none of the panels (besides the hood) will ever be unbolted.

The factory steering wheel was one of the first things to go in favor of the Nardi. I used an NRG slim hub and quick release.

ASIMO approved.

So far one cut to the bone, and two nice chunks out of my middle finger for this car haha. Thank god for paper towel/duct tape bandages.

I can't wait to see it all done.
