Re: SHG is back! Easy's EP3 goes under the knife...
Updates and progress are gonna start rolling in heavy this week... Im aiming to have the car on the road in time for our annual summer SHG BBQ!
Not much tonight, I dont have the right size allen at home to tighten the caliper bracket bolts so I have to bring one home from work tomorrow to install the brakes. But I did get the back spacers and brackets back from the machine shop on friday
This will move the caliper/rotor out 4mm to gain clearance between the rotor and control arm.
.
.
I also picked up some new cabin filters from honda...
NASTY
.
.
These bad boys have been on national backorder for months... Koni spring seat adapters to run a 2.5" spring on a 2.25" collar. Apparently they are discontinued for some reason and no one else makes them. To machine a pair from scratch would have cost way too much. The originals on the rear shocks were a rubbery plastic and were cracked and shot.

Neat update. Where does the filter go in the dash? EGs had this cabin filtration system too but to source something like that would be very hard. Hope you can get it ready for SHG, driving along with everyone else is always a lot of fun.

What I did with my EG was zip tie some plush filter material from an air conditioning filter under the screen in the opening that takes air from the cowl
Im really, really hoping the car will be ready... If they do ship out today like they said they would theres a very good chance the shocks will be here in time

Your build is awesome man! I've always been a fan of ep3's. I'm glad you're doing a proper build on it. Just out of curiosity, what kind of camera and wide-angle lens are you using?

Damn that would be pretty sick to get that! Its such a nice addition to the interior, to not be breathing in all that pollen and crap....

I really don't post here much but have been a member forever. Your builds are always inspiring. I started reading through this about a month ago and it is definitely making me tie up loose ends on my car. I loved your last build this one is shaping up to be better. I love how your cars are not over the top crazy but are just a great combination of high end parts and very thorough planning (and some cool fab work as well).

I don't really like your builds. Your builds make me feel as if my car knowledge is inferior and that I need to start collecting tools to build a machine shop in my garage.

Haha, well being in the racing business now has had a huge affect on me, as you can probably see in little influences in this car over the EG. Connections help too, but anyone can do what Im doing. I dont have use of a machine shop, or even a TIG welder. All that has to be outsourced. Hopefully we will be getting a TIG at the shop in the next month or so, and then watch out

Really loving the brake setup
BTW just something for everyone that I've been working on...

First Episode is up and various other videos on the track. I also bought myself a new Canon t3i for better quality videos compared to that of the first episode.

Re: SHG is back! Easy's EP3 goes under the knife...
Was up until 3AM working on the car getting it ready to make the trip to NY for our annual summer SHG BBQ!
First off, Im really excited about this piece... Sorry I didnt get pictures of the rest of the parts fabbed but I had the custom battery tray all welded up yesterday... Trick!!!
Had to polish it up a bit to get rid of the cleaning marks from the TIG...
.
.
Heres a great opportunity to see how a Riv-nut actually works... Its like a rivet, so you insert the nut, then basically a rivet gun with a treaded rod threads into the nut, you squeeze, and it crushes the nut sandwiching it onto the metal.
.
.
New 316 stainless allen hardware
.
.
I also decided to finally clean up my breather and evap lines and do it they way Ive been wanting to for some time now.
I ordered a new external breather check valve from a 92-95 civic (stock ep3 check valve is molded into the oem hose) and put that on the end of a 90 deg hose section...
.
.
Then ran hose up the the intake mani but this time ran in under the airbox instead of over like before.
.
.
Then finished up the bay and installed the tray and RSB25

Finished putting the car together last night and this morning then brought it to the shop to change some fluids and do an alignment. Unfortunately I wasnt able to get the new rear shocks in time for the BBQ so Im on stock rear shocks with cut springs right now lol. The new rear shocks should be ready to go in some time next week.
No scales this time, Ill cross weigh it when the rear coilovers are in...
