Thanks dude, honestly Im much better on a good machine. Our welder at the shop is an old *** Miller 140 amp. Were hopefully getting a Lincoln 275 precision TIG soon so I can just do everything thats not time crucial with that.

Heres what I was up to tonight. Got the rear calipers rebuilt. I had painted them a week or so ago and finally got around to picking up the rebuild kits at Majestic Honda this morning.

.

.

This is why I love Honda...

.

.

Heres a little trick that alot of people dont know... To get the new dust boot over the piston when re-installing it, blow compressed air in from behind (as you would to pop out the piston) to blow the boot out and onto the piston.

.

.

New seal greased with shin etsu, and new boot greased with Cosmo

.

.

Parking brake mechanism lubed with Cosmo aswell as new seal

.

.

Now just waiting on all the hardware to come back from plating for final assembly!

A guy we know through racing that owns a shop in florida gets all his stuff plated by a company down there for cheap. All the places up here want to charge an arm and a leg for it. We sent my stuff, which is basically all the suspension and brakes bolts off my car, and all the hardware off a ground up Miata build were doing at work and they wanted $900! The guy in FL is doing it for like $50 lol.

Just got some stuff back from the powder coater. A few misc. things that needed paint - the new helper springs, steering rack mounts, ebrake cable brackets and rear swaybar brackets.

What made you decide to rebuild the rear calipers? I was ready to rebuild all 4 calipers just for peace of mind on my high-mileage S2000, but everyone (even my friends at the Honda dealer) told me I was insane for it since none of them were faulty :\ so I blew it off.

Well for a few reasons... First because the seals and boots had paint on them from painting the caliper, and thats ghetto lol. Second because I bead blasted the calipers before paint so I wanted to flush out anything that may have gotten in there during the process. The rebuild kits are only like $18 a piece so why shortcut ya know?

Years ago, I found the reason behind Easy_E's building etiquette and attention to detail. It'll help bring people to an understanding, when seeing this level of automotive enthusiasm.

With most enthusiasts out there, you hear the common question: "But why?"
With Easy_E, it's more like: "But why not?"

PS. The car's looking dead gorgeous as always, bud. Keep up the subtle innovations.

Thanks Matt! I think you hit the nail on the head. Unless you dont have the time or resources to commit the kind of attention to things that I do, theres no reason not to. And honestly, the only time I really spend on the car is on my lunch breaks, and maybe an hour after work before I go home a couple days a week. Ive barely been spending any time in my own garage since I can do everything at the shop, and I dont really invest that much time in the scheme of things!

If I had ESP, I would be very grateful for it. I could definitely use it these days (for this economic shift).

To put it plainly; I have taken some influences and ideas from both builds that I have witnessed. But, more so then the physical modifications, is the mentality behind building a car. Being creative, whilst maintaining an up-most standard for build quality and cleanliness. Honestly, it's something I've been trying to focus on for years.

PS. I'd love to have as much time as you work on your EP3, there E'. I don't even get that much.

Im glad I can be an inspiration Matt, and I hope I can hep to guide other enthusiasts in the right directions with their builds

So here are some little updates, I installed the 22mm rear swaybar last night with some new hardware. These bolts are different than the oem in that they have a huge flange on them, and in theory it may help to keep the brackets from flexing against the frame.

.

.

The energy suspension bushings also came in last week, so I was able to finish my drawings for the delrin bushings Im having custom made. The polyurethane will be temporary until I have the money to finish the delrin setup. The kit didnt come with rear shock or upper arm bushings so those will be replaced with delrin which will hopefully be done next week.

.

.

And a litle teaser of the brakes, since Im keeping them I redid the faces

Nice man, having the ability to lay real paint and not spray paint is invaluble. Its amazing how much stronger it really is. Sucks about the rust, def hit it with a wire wheel and some POR15 and youll be ok

Nice brakes, looks incredible. Navy on gray is a nice combo but I cant tell if it is just black.

The hardware covers as much area as possible, I def like that. Important details!

So you just bought energy suspension bushings for mock up? What exactly is a delrin setup? Hard rubber? Also how do you feel about poly bushings on sway bars? Is it squeaky or short lived?'

One last thing lol, what sway is that?

Thanks claud, the brakes are a dark metallic grey on silver. The color of the letters is called cast iron. I actually originally wanted to do navy blue but that color wasnt offered in the high temp paint I used for the brakes.

The energy bushings I needed for 2 reasons. Since in order to get all the measurements for the Delrin bushings I had to remove all the stock stuff. Since I wont be able to complete the Delrin stuff in time I needed something to put in for a while. Im also going to use the steel center dowels from the Energy kit with the new Delrin stuff to avoid having to make them from scratch, which would cost probably twice as much in material and labor as the entire Energy kit.

Delrin is DuPont's brand name for a substance called acetal homopolymer resin. Its a self lubricating hard plastic, so its basically like the energy stuff but acts more like a bearing since there is no deflection or deformation. We use a full set of Delrin bushings in our Grand Am MX-5.

The swaybar is a 22mm off of an 06 DC5 type S.
