for what kind of numbers though?(vs BC) And Its not $225 more, its $400 more, You cant compare a mild steel header to BC's SS. You would have to coat the Mild one bringing it closer in price to the SS header anyway.

Mold looks pretty good. I see your planning a swap in the near future. . .

Yeah, Like Mike said you cant really compare the mild steel SSR to the stainless Buddy Club product, at least in my opinion - since I would never put any mild steel exhaust part on my car, ever. No matter what it's coated with it will eventually rust through, and everytime the car sits after driving condensation will collect in the low spot inside the header and rot it from the inside out. Using mild steel is a shortcut that shouldnt be taken honestly.

That being said the fairest comparison would be a used Buddy Club and a used stainless SSR, which is about $450 Vs $850-$950. A few ft lbs of torque just isnt worth it to me.

Haha not so near, probably mid next year. Im focusing on getting the suspension really dialed this year and investing in some track time, then Ill start working on the motor towards the end of the year.

you ever read the threads on CRSX about headers? they test slot of them and im pretty sure the kidd racing made the best power. and i believe its stainless. i think they also make their own header. may be some usefull info

Yeah Ive read alot on the KR header. Its def a good piece and I was actually considering buying one for a bit but Id rather support Buddy Club and use their product. Plus it will be nice to have full Buddy Club racing spec from the engine to the exhaust tip

So I finally put the car on jack stands tonight, took all the wheels off and cleaned them thoroughly inside and out. I also took off the rally armor mud flaps since they were pretty shot. Front brakes are also off and about to get refinished to go up for sale.

Just a heads up Ill be selling the OEM TypeS front calipers, with ProjectMU B-Force street pads and Hawk DTC-60 race pads for $350

Pics will be up as soon as the calipers are done

ohh snap, just read through this whole thread and damn man, definitely one of the best and most detailed builds I've seen. Definitely can't wait to see the progress with the engine. I'm guessing you plan to drive the car between now and the time the new engine goes in?

The ONLY thing I'm wondering about is why you didn't go with a plug-in relay harness for your S2K start button? They're so much cleaner than individual wires going to the relay prongs. I used to do individual wires, but when I did my HID headlight harnesses I used the plug-in harnesses for the relay on each side of the car.

Harness looks like this:

Installed in my headlight harness:

And all taped up:

Yeah, I thought about that after the fact. Looking back I should have used one but ohwell, live and learn. And yeah the car is going back on the road with the A3 in the spring, Ill be driving it for another year or so before I put the new motor in.

sweet man, nice to know it's not going to just sit for over a year.

Also the red door pulls are totally unique, never seen anything like that before. Just wondering how they're going to hold up with that cable in there after pulling on it many times.

No way man, the car will be a daily driver again as soon as the roads are clean of salt!

The strap should be fine, its so thoroughly sewn that theres no way it will move around to chafe itself free.

Here is the airbox plug after high build primer and wet sanding. Still needs a few more coats and sanding but getting there!

Thanks J, the volume will be increased a bit, mostly by having a smooth contoured bottom half. As you probably know the stock lower half of the box is all kinds of crazy shapes. Also, the lid wont have the resonance chamber and contours inside so that will add a bit more volume aswell.

Looking good!!! I had to re-visit your build to get some more info on my new wheel setup. I don't have 9's, but got 17x8 with 225/45/17's in the front. I'll be putting them on once I get my new lugnuts. Always a pleasure to read your build thread!!!
