CTD-Fab's Metal Art/Sculpture Megathread
Hey all. So like many of you guys I fab for a living. I started out doing custom suspension and control arms for a well known company. I then transferred to designing and prototyping turbo manifolds for two other very well known companies. As some of you may know, building thousands of turbo manifolds can take its toll after awhile. This is my thread about the metal art and sculpture I like to do on the side to keep my love of fabbing alive. Its amazing how much fab and scrap from manifolds transfers over.
So now for some pix!!!
Feel free to comment and say whatever you want.
My JDM-Benderbot- All stainless, 3" pie cut and fused arms and legs, 1.25 sch10 claws, spring loaded hidden magnetic latch.
Froggy - made this for a Christmas present. Mostly motorcycle parts, gears, cam, crank. 1/4 rod for body, 18 gauge body panels, misc scrap. Weights about 35 lbs!!!
This flower is made of all 1.5 sch40 stainless collector cuts. Bending by hand was a PITA!!! color came out really nice.

Re: CTD-Fab's Metal Art/Sculpture Megathread
Thanks. The bot took about 15 hours overall but started as a coffee cup. The frog took about 13 with paint and the flower and ones I make like it take anywhere from 2-5 hours with paint. Its so worth it to make something truly unique.
The center of the flower is a mild steel semi-sphere. It has fused heat spots to look like seeds. Can't tell very well in the pic.
Haha, I actually miss that place. Decent pay and I was able to do my homework and longboard all day on the clock. Met some interesting people but ultimately came back to the Arizona turbo world for competition and personal reasons
