5.125mm more fender gap, that's it. Do you realize how small of a gap that is?

Look at the fingernail on your pinky, half the width of your nail is around the amount of gap that this smaller tire will create. The full width of your fingernail is the amount lower the car will sit.

Look it up in the tire specs for OD...

Personally I'd sell to run the right size, it will artificially make your odometer increase faster and thus your mileage and mpg as well...

205 55 16 average is 24.88"
205 60 16 average is 25.69"

moving a tire nearly 1 full inch in size is noticeable

Tires are done in milimeters.

205mm is the width.

Middle number is the height. In 205/60/16, the height is 60% of 205mm which comes out to 123mm in overall height.

205/55/16, overall height is 112.75mm, which is an increase of 10.25mm in overall height.

10.25mm is about the width of a normal person's pinky nail.

10.25mm = 0.40 inches.

Note: I was being stupid and kept dividing the 10.25 by two which is how I came up with 5.125mm.

correct, that's roughly the difference between 205 40 16 and 205 45 16 on something we all know like a G3 integra. VERY noticeable change cosmetically. it's also worth somewhere in the neighborhood of 3mph on the speedo.

i don't personally care since it's not my car, just something the OP should be aware of before he makes a choice

Very noticeable? Come on now man, it's not like going from limp to boner. The difference isn't noticeable at all unless you switch tire models like going from Goodyear Eagles to Falken Azenis in which case Azenis tires tend to have a lot more meat on them for some reason.

Or you could go take a look at the actual specs for OD on the tire which vary quite a bit from the "205/55R16" on the sidewall.

For what it's worth a Kumho ASX 205/40R16 on a 96-00 Civic speedo is about 7-8% faster than actual, I can take a picture in my car right now with a GPS and the speedo since that's what I'm running until I get new tires next week... that's significant. And far more than a tire calculator would lead you to believe which says <2% or something. Also the 215/45R16 Azenis RT615s were about dead on with the speedo and GPS .

Sorry, I've been out of the racing game for a while now, I was referring to the old Azenis Sports, not the RT615s. I think the old Azenis sports were probably the widest flippin tires I've ever seen in my life.

No the rt-615 are just as beefy, I've had em on my last 3 cars because of this beefyness.

Then don't worry about it, how far was it off before? I bet it was off more or else it just proves there are massive differences in between sidewall numbers and actual OD of some of these tires...

Within 1mph is great :p

You're going from a 60 series to a 55 series.......not much of a difference at all. Check tirerack to see how much of a difference.

Your GPS is accurate and should be trusted. That extra 2-3 mph reading is most likely from tire wear.

The wheel and tire forum would have made much more sense. As long as the tire is approved for your wheel width, you will be fine.
