GM products, especially the brand new products, are a lot better than the cavaliers of the past.

I like the GMC Terrain better only b/c the Equinox looks too much like a Traverse. However, either are going to be great SUVs. The wifey actually wants the Saturn Vue.

Let me hijack to ask this since there are GM fans. The Impala is now suppose to move to the Epsion II (10 Buick Lacrosse), and the short wheel base version is the new Buick Regal. GM will move Malibu down in size (Regal), so Impala will be the "bigger" car. This won't happen until 2013 as 2014 models. Time it takes for GM to pen the new Impala.

So is GM going to keep the current W-body Impala that long????

Which is awesome if you are buying used. I got my car for less than 1/2 of what it cost new and it is only 4 years old with 45k miles.

X2

I got my car for 1/3rd of what it costs brand new and it's only 5 years old with 41k miles.

I hope I can pick up a G8 GXP M6 in 3 years for $20k or less.

Edit: fawk the $20k...here's an 09 with under 1k miles for $30k. These things will probably be under $15k in 2-3 years.

Haven't checked out Ebay yet but I'll take a swing. However, I'm pretty picky - I'd like to get the black metallic granite exterior w/jet titanium leather interior, V6, FWD, sunroof and chrome package. Seems like the only way of doing that is via custom order through dealership

But yes, the interior is among the nicest I've seen in its class. They ride pretty well, too.

I would NEVER buy an american car new. We bought out Pacifica in 2007. Fully loaded 2005 limited edition. EVERY option available at the time. 1/2 what it cost new and had 28k miles on it.

Yeah resale is something that worries me, but I can't seem to find any stats for the Equinox (it is a relatively new car which is probably why.)

stop buying SUV's you idiots. these shitty crossovers have no benefit over a wagon. OP if you must have a GM then wait for the CTS wagon.

The resale SHOULD worry you. No offence, but purchasing a new Domestic car is very unwise. If that's what you want, cool, but honestly, it will lose THOUSANDS in 2-4 years. And the guys talking half price, that ain't no joke. I'd wait at least 2 years and let someone else take the hit. If money isn't an issue.... well still, it's not the wisest move financially.

What he's looking at gets the same mileage as a CTS wagon and can carry more stuff. Besides, the chevy he is looking at is basically just a lifted wagon. There is nothing "truck" or "suv" about it save the body panels.

Right, so a $50,000 wagon is comparable to a $30,000 SUV.

I say wait a year or 2 and buy it for 1/2.......
If you buy it new, and pay up for it(assuming they won't "give-away" an order car) you're married to that thing.....
Blow a ton of money as a down payment(and you won't be upside down in a couple years) or buy it with a lower down payment and be upside down.....
You can't win buying a NEW DUMBestiCRAP.....
*Waits* for the stories that people will have in regards to this.
P.S. I did sales and finance for a GMC and Chevy store. EVERYONE was upside down when they had a financed domestic trade-in. Sometimes to the point where I had to tell them face to face; Sorry, without $5-10k down you're stuck in that car!
IIRC the record negative equity we had there was a guy upside down $17k on his Expedition. Not a GM, but still domestic.

Being upside down on your car loan is guaranteed the minute you drive off the lot. Once you drive that thing off the lot, it's worth less than you bought it for. It's just a question of how much gap do you have the stomach for
