Hmmm. I think I agree with George on this one.

Was the man armed? Was he even INSIDE of her car? What evidence is there that the guy was indeed trying to break into the car? Her word?

Unless there are a TON of details left out of this article, she shouldn't get off scott free for this one.

I'm not anti-gun. I'm perfectly OK with shooting someone who is violently trying to break into your residence. I'm even ok with shooting someone committing theft ON YOUR PROPERTY, if you have reasonable cause to believe that they're dangerous. But to not even WARN someone before you fatally shoot them, as they break into your car, IN A PARKING LOT. damn.

Oh yeah, I'm also not "pro-thug". I recognize that this car theif was likely some straight-up ghetto thug with multiple priors, and gang affiliations. Just to put that out there.
This.

You do indeed know little about guns.

i just read a small article on this. it basically says she noticed a group of thieves going through various cars in her lot. when they got to hers, she blew one of their heads off, and the others fled. i guess a grand jury is still determining if they should charge her.

My bet is that she'll be charged. Even in Texas. Original story was quite misleading

i think the fact that it was a group of them and not just one guy makes all the difference.. i would threaten to shoot one person but i would be scared to threaten an entire group of thugs because they might just turn and start shooting.. while firing towards them will make them all run away

And that may be the reason she was justified in shooting. The disparity of force. A group of thugs has the upper hand on a pregnant women. A single thug MAY still have the upper hand over a pregnant women, but a group = definitely.

she didn't execute him, she shot him as he was stealing her sh!t. This would be a different story if she led him at gunpoint back into her apartment and murdered him. Little piece of sh-it knew the risks involved in his actions and deserves what he got.

And I completely admit that fact. I had no idea a shotgun would be that effective at such a distance.

Yes shotguns are accurate to around 100 yards. And if your using buckshot it will send out like 5 slugs with one trigger pull greatly uncreasing your odds of hitting the target in some way.

This story is fine with Me. I hate people who sit there and defend the burglar. Considering he will probably be up to home invasions in a year. And it does not take much for a home invasion to turn homicide.

He was breaking the law. Why should he be protected with any rights when he was doing something illegal in the first place. Some people will defend the thief until he's in your house with a ski mask and stolen pistol therating to kill you over a ****ing plasma TV.

Anybody barges in my pad they are going to be meet by an ak47. And 2 30 round clips. There is no escape

That was a little harsh, but she shouldn't be handling a gun when she is pregnant.

She prolly had a cigarette in one hand and a 40 in the other.

Unless you're in danger, I think a judge and jury should decide whether someone should be put to death.

I agree that she should have warned before firing. I also feel that breaking into or stealing a car is a horrible crime. What if someone does not have insurance and their vehicle just sustained a minimum of several hundred dollars of damage because some thief decided that they want to see what was in it? What if the owner has no insurance and the car is stolen, leaving them stranded? I have little compassion for thieves. This is not stealing a loaf of bread.

If you cant afford full coverage then you shouldn't have a nice car. If your shitty 1500 car gets stolen, then I feel bad for you, but 1500 is not > a life.

AGREED.

A lot of you people don't seem to value the human life... Reminding me of third world countries where there is no value to the human life, with all the killing and genocides.
