H1N1 - got it? - Honda-Tech

so... a few people at work have got the swine flu already, and now i'm not feeling 100%. just got that soreness in my sinuses that i know is leading to a sore throat. my question is to anyone who has it, or has had it.... what were your very first symptoms?

They're not even testing anymore, just treating the symptoms. Also hospitals and Dr's aren't supposed to be telling people if they have H1N1 because the treatment is the same. Just that they have flu symptoms and to be careful.

I'm unsure how to differentiate a cold from a flu. But I do know what the symptoms of AIDS are, and you sir got the aidz

from what i gather----flu=nausea.....cold=soar throat, coughing, runny nose, slight fever, etc.

OP: if you die, you have swine flu.

The testing was just to track its progress. Its a pita to test and the tests that dr's and hospitals were doing weren't that accurate. To get a proper test the sample needs to be sent to a CDC lab. And that takes days. My wife is a ER RN and works with the local health department. They get a bunch a people in the ER every day saying they have swine flu, but they just check to make sure there is no fever or de-hydration.

i have a friend that is a nurse, and she gets really pissed that everyone comes in saying they might have swine flu.......now i can see why shes so frustrated.

i heard when you get it you get all the symptoms at once...i had a sore throat about a week ago and that was it, the only sympton i had and now im fine.

i do know like 10 people that have had it and there all fine and no one died. just another over exagerated strain that has the most press.

my buddy's boss's sister (30yrs old) just died from it down here. i guess the pneumonia that results from it is what kills people. she developed it in both lungs.

That's what you need to watch out for. If you have a fever over 100 for more then 24 hours get checked out. Keep plenty of fluids handy, ibuprofen, and over the counter flu medicines. Just be smart about it.

I was sick all of last week with body aches and a lot of vomiting but had no fever or cough. Now I have a sore throat and some sinus pressure. Not sure if that is what I got. Meh, no care, I'll just walk it off

Thats only partially true. Influenza is spread from person to person when droplets of moisture from a person with influenza are spread through the air when that person coughs, sneezes or talks. These droplets contain viruses that when inhaled by another person can cause an infection. So unless that person is coughing at you or sneezing on you from 6 feet away your fine.

You probably had the cold.

More than likely...I didn't worry about it too much. I've felt worse before and was still able to stand while pissing so I knew I wasn't near death. lol

Sounds like a doctor of bullshit.

Simply being within a 6ft proximity to a person who is infected isn't going to pass it along.

There has to be a way for it to transfer, it could be something as tiny as a little bit of moisture from a sneeze, but it needs to get carried to you some how. Simply being within 6 feet isn't going to necessarily going to put you at risk.

UHm... just because they aren't really testing specifically for H1N1 doesnt mean that you don't have it or can't get it. Its like saying to yourself "I dont have AIDS because I'm not going to test for it." You'll still have the disease/infection whether its tested for or not.
