Default Anyone from texas?

Hey how's it going?
i've been building a car for 2 years now very very slowly it's been on jack stands forever.
well i've been trying to prepare it for hpde's and such just trying to find some fellow members within the state or louisianna not alot of friends are into road racing or willing to building a dedicated track car so the only information/advice i get is on the forums or reading books/magazines.

just trying to find some locals in the area! i'm from houston and just lookin' for maybe someone with more experience and already a nice established car that i might be able to come help out at events and such

sorry if this is in the wrong place.

nasa and scca websites dont really ever have anything much happening in texas except autox and alot of the spec miata/rx7 and domestics/v8's.
i've auto-x'd a few times and it's fun no doubt but i prefer to get out and stretch my legs on some straights and high speed turns. auto-x's runs just don't last long enough for me.

also willing to post some pics to make the thread somewhat decent.
before:

a month ago:

still need to take some updated pics.
had bought those d2's brand new isntalled them then sold them before even setting the car on the ground. gonna switch over to koni/gc and still need to freshen up the brake system and wheel/tire department. also need to figure out/re-wire the chassis harness for a switch panel and just the basic necessities

engine :
gsr block
ls crank
ls rods
os p73's

gsr head
b16 transmission

I'm in north Texas, and NASA has plenty of HPDE track time during events. I race in PT, and so do a fellow friends (one with another Prelude, one with a Civic, and another with an FC RX7). I haven't done any racing this year due to budget constraints, but I'm planning to run a full season in 2010. NASA here runs PT, GTS, AI, SRX7, SM, and ST, (not to mention HPDE and TT classes) so there's plenty of variety at the events.

East Texas here. Will be doing NASA HPDE and later, TT, and then a quick transition to PT and HC for Nationals. Realistically 2011 season contender. 2010 is just getting alot more experience under the belt. Those D2's are garbage.

Let me know when you come to come NASA events next year. It would be nice to hang out with some other Honda owners.

I managed one NASA race this year in PTC. Hoping to kick off 2010 on 12/4/09 with a nine hour shakedown at Road Atlanta, then most of a season with Texas. Always plenty of labor available for anyone that wants some. Ill also be running a second (PTE) car sometime this year that is similar to what you are building. If you want some seat time without the hassle of dealing with a new built car shoot me a pm.

The schedule looks good. The first event is a bit early. Hopefully I can have the car ready by then.

Hey andrew I am about 5-6 hours from you, and I have been doing HPDE / TT with rgvpca.org at Cameron County Airport in Bayview, TX. Next event will be 11/14/09 then 12/05/09. You can check out their site at www.rgvpca.org for more details or pm me. I also know these guys go out to H2R in San Marcos, TX ( http://harrishillroad.com/about/ ) and TWS in College Station, TX ( http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/ ).

Here's a link to my build just in case you were curious how Cameron County Airport Track looked like with rgvpca.org

I put on events in Mineral Wells which is a few hours from you:

www.texastimetrials.com

Our events are on a massive asphalt pad which is more than large enough to setup a small road course on. You should come out when you get your car put back together!

Murphy, Tx here and used to race H2 (sold my car). But I should hopefully be instructing with Apex Driving Academy in 2010 and maybe (big maybe) if anyone needs a driver for an enduro or maybe rent a car for a race.

Right now my only car is a Daddy moblie => TSX and praying that if things work out in 2010/2011 may get into something RWD (more toy/fun/track car and no where near race car)

It would be good to have you as an instructor!

I'm in DFW, and will definitly do a lot more track events next year. I'm really looking forward to goin out to Harris Hill Road in San Marcos, but I'll have to get a quiet exhaust on my car first.

I've been here for 3 years now (NB), and just found out about H2R a few weeks ago. I really want to get out there at some point in the near future! I can not justify the membership cost though.

If any of you Honda guys are planning an event, or weekend - I am all ears!

I've done three events at H2R with different clubs (PCA, S2KCA, CZOT)... great track!

I think you can still get signed up for an S2K club one-day event on Nov 14 there:
