Errr Justin I think the only catastrophe will be if you can squeeze three race wins out of the weekend? I'll be looking after the new H2 Car which will be driven by John Hsu. The #65 is already in a million bits getting ready for Thunder Hill.

I don't think you are accounting for the 4 drops. Not sure about H2 and H1, but the following are the points after 4 drops for H4. So technically, it's not locked up.

J Mac:1055 points
Terri Rossi:945 points
John Howard: 919 points
BenTang: 800 points

yup for the most part. The whole car could use a proper straightening due to earlier incidents, but she still drives in a straight line and was fast around CA Speedway. Your guys next race is coming up soon. How I miss being out in the mix!

I am out, bummer!!! I have to leave town and work at least once a year. Nasa did not check with me first before schedule the 2009 season. Seems they have done the same thing again for 2010.

Working on a hall pass for Friday only, just to come and talk smack.

Here are some pics,with captions

This is how I help friends pull engines...The second one explains benny's season in a whole...Third one shows he made it back on track thanks to James "Robo-clavicle" Landry for expedite service of a motor and a little help from some friends.Renan made countless trips to vatozone in chafter to get benny an alternator belt that fits.

The problem was not the Fram filter. Although these are probably some of the worst on the market,,,, I have used them for years . The filter has a bypass valve ( like most all do ) .

The only way for them to collapse is if the system is not primed properly ( oil on one side and air on the other ) this creates a huge pressure differential. If you have an empty cooler and lines, this pressure differential occurs for a long period of time. The bypass opens letting crap and pressure by , and if the pressure differential is still too great it destroys the pleats. This is compounded if there is a bunch of crap in your filter ( like was found in Bennys )

I have been using a WIX 5151R filter. It has a much greater flow rate and higher bypass valve opening pressure , but a significantly lower micron rating.

Fram uses cardboard backing plates ( and so does the latest Honda brand filters . look at the filter display at the parts department of any honda dealer.) .

If you are using a stock type filter I would use a Mobil one or K&N ( they are the same filter, made at the same factory ,,, just the K&N has the nut on the end ) These have a better bypass valve, better filter media and do not use cardboard end plates.

I am always careful to "prime" my engines after any work to the oiling system or even an oil change. I remove the spark plugs and crank untill i get some PSI. That gradual priming of the system ensures the filter will not be " gang rushed " by the oil . Also you dont get the 5 seconds of terror when starting the engine waiting for oil pressure yo !!!

I always prime my New engines. But i use stock sized Fram TG filter and havent had any problems to date. The issue with bennys was he was using a longer HP1 filter longer the paper element the easier will be crushed.
